Presidential Address - Sunday 12/18

President Bush is giving a speech tomorrow (Sunday 12/18) at 9 PM. I assume this will play havic with the primetime line-up for the East Coast. Especially Cold Case which never starts on time. Just heard it is supposedly to last 20 minutes

I ended up dumping my SP for Cold Case because it fails to start on time more often than not. Too bad, because I do like the show.

Pad the "stop recording" time an additional hour and one-half. You will probably be able to record all of Cold Case.

Is the Cold Case issue an East Coast problem?

I am on the West Coast and have never had an issue with Cold Case start times...

It is an East Coast, central time zone issue because of NFL games running over and pushing the entire schedule behind

Why would a 9 PM address affect an 8 PM program? Doesn't look like there's a football game on that network...

Because they run the programs in their entirety, therefore the entire night gets pushed

No game

Since there is no game on CBS Sunday, nothing gets pushed. 60 Minutes and Cold Case should be on time.

Lightbulb

It will have very little impact.

Remember, right now just about all shows are on reruns until January 2006. As such, because except for the ESPN Sunday Night game there will be no impact on NFL programming either.

This isn't like back on April 28, 2005 when the prime time Presidential news conference caused massive havoc with the start of the May 2005 "sweeps" period (I remember Fox had to do back-to-back episodes showings of The O.C. and NBC subsequently did the same for Joey).

The FOX websight does not mention the address. Family Guy and American Dad (both new episodes) are scheduled for 9/9:30.

It may be a new address, but the content will be just another rerun!

Nothing new... move on folks.

Figures.

Fox has been showing repeats for the past three weeks and now the one time they actually show a new episode, it's been preempted!

Who wants to watch a presidential address, anyways? Isn't that what the network cable news channels are for?

Both Cold Case and The Simpsons started 20 minutes late in the Mountain time zone Luckily I happened to notice the speech on live TV and was able to adjust my recordings.

The man in the white house's speech in CST started at 8 and ended at 8:20. Fox acxtually was smart and didn't pre-empt Family Guy nor American Dad. They started the eps at 8:20 right after the speech was over.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what our 20 minutes of TV was pre-empted for? Sadly, I missed the speech.

I'm sorry, but political discussion is not allowed on this forum.

Since the speech is over and the television scheduling conflict has been discussed - I will close this thread.
