HD upgrade - same size drive

I have a Seagate 80 gig drive in my tivo (DHR212). I bought a tivo off ebay (PVT300) with a life time subscription. I want to move all the data (including my recordings) from my old tivo to the new tivo. I have another 80 gig Seagate drive that I want to put in my new unit. So here is the problem I am having, When I use MFStools to do the copy, it comes back saying that the target drive is too small (both are 80 gig drives). The command I am using is:
Mfsbackup Tao -/dev/hdc | mfsrestore s 127 xzpi - /dev/had. In the how too there is a line about if you are restoring to the same drive remove the s 127. I tried that and got the same error.

Can someone please help me out here?

Leave off the x in restore, or do a dd copy.

With an HDR212 and a PTV300 all you have to do is physically move the HD from one box to the other and everything will be exactly as it was in the other box - It really is that simple.

As for getting the Tivo image on to a HD for the other Tivo that is ever so slightly smaller than the HD you're using now, you can shrink the image back to it's original size and then restore that backup to the new HD and then expand it.

mfsbackup -6so /mnt/dos/tivo.bak /dev/hdc

mfsrestore -s 127 -zpi /mnt/dos/tivo.bak /dev/hdb
