HDVR2 ethernet card

NOOB question,

Am I better of using an USB ethernet adapter or installing a network card? I'm thinking USB 1.1 might have limited speed for file tranfers. If I'm better off using a network card any hints on how literally hack my tivo install it?

Thanks

There are no "slots" in HDVR2 to which you can attach a network card, so USB is the only option. If you use the Zipper, it will install USB 2.0 drivers (the hardware is USB 2.0). I get about 16Mbits/sec on wired ethernet - and the performance seems to be constrained by the TiVo system itself, not the USB adapter.

A Netgear FA120 is recommended by many people here.

D-link DUB-E100 is another. The Linksys isn't really recommended anymore as all that are in stores are the V2 adapters, plus uses an X-jack (The Netgear and D-Link adapters use a totally positive real RJ45 jack).
