Mine just went out. Any idea where I can get a new one? Guess I should just open the box and look for make/model. Any suggestions?

Same here. I called Humax. They said that even though it is out of warranty they are still honoring the warranty on all units regardless of when they were purchased. I also contacted Weaknees, they said they haven't had any demand for or experience with DVD burner replacements (yet) but they think they are Panasonic model A05 or A06's.

Having said that, I would still like to know a definitive answer to your question about a replacement. If I could purchase just the DVD burner I would just do that and replace it myself since this would be a lot less hassle than changing my whole Tivo out.

This has been discussed before, either here or in the other place. IIRC the drive is an OEM version of a retail device so you may have to hunt to find an exact replacement. But do a search the information is out there.

It appears the drive is a Pioneer DVR-108 which is equvalent to but not necessarily the same firmware as the A08

Also the it looks as if it has a 3 year Manufacturers warantee. So Panasonic may replace it for you.

That's Pioneer, not Panasonic. And they are DVR-108s, aka A08. Though I've seen reports that some newer units have a DVR-109 - but I don't know that that was confirmed.
