Arrow how to play US/NTSC DVDs in UK?

I have a lot of home movies of our kids that I just converted to DVD in the US and would like to inflict on my inlaws in the UK. The DVDs were recorded in NTSC format on blank US DVDs, which I assume are formatted for US region, but don't really know. Can someone tell me either A. how to convert my DVDs to PAL/Region 2 format, or B. Purchase a DVD player in the UK that will play the DVDs as is, or C. some combination of both if necessary. My inlaws are completely un-technosavvy, so the solution has to be simple. No hacking into DVD players or adding anything complicated to their existing player. Thanks in advance for your help.

Most UK DVD players will be fine with NTSC DVD's and will convert them to PAL or PAL 60 so they can be viewed over here. As you have burnt them yourself then they will not be region encoded so you can just post them over

If you know their DVD player model then I'm sure we can find out if it will play NTSC DVD's out the box on a PAL TV for certain.

If you get it working, please don't tell my relatives in Fresno, who are currently not sending home movies of the grandchiuldren because they believe we can't view them

To answer the original question.

1. AIUI most (all?) domestic DVD recorders do not add regional coding - they create region 0 DVDs - so regional encoding is not an issue.

2. Most UK DVD players will replay 525/60 DVDs (aka "NTSC") in either NTSC 60, PAL 60 or RGB 60, and most (but not all) UK TVs will cope with one of these three formats.

My sister lives in Fresno... what's it worth to you that they NOT find out?

Actually, it's OK - I'll be able to fall back on -R/-RW/+R/+RW incompatability. They'd never know. Or I could just claim that they kepy getting impounded by Customs.
