Question Backing up Shows

I've got an old S1 DTiVo. It's starting to hang A LOT. So I wanna rebuild it. Luckily I have the stock drive tucked away. So I plan to just re-image it. What I want to know is can I just download all my saved shows to my pc from the ty directory and then after the rebuild upload them back to the DTiVo? I notice there are several different directories one being ty+. Thanks.

I think there is a format that is better for trasnferring bac, not one of the ty ones.
