"Attack of the Show" - Series Premiere

Since there was a fair piece of discussion about G4 discarding the now abused "The Screen Savers" show name and resurrecting it in their image as "Attack of the Show" a week later (today), I decided to check it out.

One word: Sad.

And what the hell was that 'skit' opening?

Plus, did they steal Martin Sergeant's furniture? I don't know. I only saw his show twice but I figured a red velour curved couch with Sara Lane draped across it was probably a good guess.

So, is this still live format now? If it is there sure isn't any reason for it to be. They could easily pre-record what they had.

I guess I have to agree with almost everyone in their "street interviews" about the show name... dumb. I think there was maybe two people who didn't think the name was dumb, right?

While it isn't anything like it's former self, I think that Kevin R and Sarah are decent hosts. But Kevin P... he has to interject his negative nasty comments everwhere. Get this sociopath off TV!!!

I forgot to watch/record the premier for this stupidly named show.
I just set to record today's repeat. I'll get back after I watch it.
I don't have high hopes, however.

I know I'm in the minority and I've said it before, but I really like all the incarnations of The Screen Savers.

I've watch from the very beginning and have enjoyed all the host, Leo the best, Megan and Morgan, Patrick I never cared for and I actually really enjoyed Alex.

I was majorly disappointed when they dumped Alex and was in the mindset that I wasn't going to watch it any longer. Kevin P just was annoying as was Chi-Lan. I stuck with it and although Kevin P is pretty annoying sometimes, I still enjoy the show. Attack of the Show is a pretty strange name, I'm guessing it's mostly influenced by Joshua Brentano who is a major Star Wars fan...Attack of the Clones.

G4 messed TSS up so badly...when even fire Leo and Pat? Were the ratings for TSS with them any worse than what they are now with AotS? I'm sure they were significantly higher....

Anyhow, I forgot to Tivo AotS. I'll get it tonight, just to see what kind of mess G4 has created.

Actually G4 didn't fire either of them. Leo left before they moved to LA because they couldn't come to an agreement on a new contract. Patrick decided he didn't want to move to LA for the show.

As far as ratings go, TSS probably does have more viewers after the merger due to being aired not only on DirecTV, but the G4 markets as well. At least, that's how I'd spin the numbers in my favor if I was a G4 programming wizard.

My understanding is that TechTV had a much higher viewership than G4. G4 was a tiny subgroup of TechTV.

I personally never heard of G4 until the merger.

Well, I'm watching it now. I'll withold judgement for a while, until after I see a few more episodes. The red couch works well with Sarah.

It was TechTV that had the larger distribution to start with. Comcast bought TechTv so that they could have access to that distribution, and G4 assimilated TechTv.

I'm sure that G4 has more subscribers than they used to have, but since TTV was already available on most systems, I don't know if TSS got any bump because of it. Well, that and the fact that they ruined the show and lost existing viewers.

Okay, I finished that first show. I'll give it one more chance tonight.
But, don't hold your breath.

I just tuned in upon retuning home. The show sucked, but Sarah looked better than she used to. Seemed to have swallowed 2 balloons and changed her hair. Didn't quite grasp what they are trying to do, but the other cohost, not KR, is 100% annoying. I won't be back. Sure do miss the old Screensavers.

WTF?!?! What was up with sticking the tiny web server up someone's butt? Just plain stupid.

I'll probably still watch it, but I'm just glad I can fast forward through the crap. Since moving to G4, I usually can get through the whole show in about 25-30 mins.

Well, I may give it a try later but this show is now just like every other show on G4 - crap.

For some reason the new set reminded me of a hotel I stayed at in New Orleans once. It's claim to fame was it used to be a "classy" bordello.

Yeah, I made that same mistake. The butt web server took care of that urge.

I would give money for one good episode of TSS. With Leo, Patrick, Kevin R. and Yoshi. Like a reunion show.

Wow. I set up a season pass about 9 pm to catch the 11 pm cst replay and deleted the season pass about 11:30. Yes it was that bad. Really sad too. TSS was the reason I subscribed to digital cable 2 years ago.

Watched it last night.

It was OK...nothing great. The first 10 minutes was the best, as usual.

It's still no Pat/Leo, but at least it is better than when Kevin Rose "gave up" his hosting duties and they brought in that other girl to host. She was super annoying, especially paired with Kevin P.

I'll continue to Tivo it, but I'll probably only watch 10 minutes of it.

If anyone thinks she's attractive, they better check their prescription. When I see her face I can't help but think of a horse.

Where the hell is Jessica Corbin!!!?
