Smart Scheduling

I am just getting started with HME (But have used java before) so please ignore any stupid questions

Would it be possible to write a program that was basically a scheduler, but would find a tivo on the network that didn't have a conflict

Example: Two tivos both on the same cable TV, on tivo 1 you tell it to record X at 9pm, but it is allready recording Y, It looks at tivo B and sees that tivo B isnt doing anything, and schedules it on tivo B

Possible?

The TiVo already exposts the ToDo lists via HTTP in XML format. Parsing multiple XML files to generate a calendar and find openings is "mostly" trivial.

I don't believe that a Remote Scheduling API has been exposed yet, though, so there would be no way to insert the Record request back into the TiVo.

It would be a nice feature, but might expose your TiVo to unwanted access...someone whose TiVo wasn't firewalled properly on their network could find all their space filled up with Skinemax soft porn, or Teletubbies reecordings.

I have done a few searches on the forum to find discussion on exporting the ToDo list but have come up empty, can you point me in the right direction or give me some instructions on how to export the ToDo list. Its been a while but all I was aware of was the ability to grab the Now Playing List.

Thanks

I think this feature of smart scheduling is only feature I have seen that replay has over tivo. If this was implemented I think it would be a huge improvement of the current method.

Actually, as far as I know, only "Now Playing" has been exposed by XML. The links provided above are hacks for the Series 1 that require modification of the TiVo.
