I am a long time customer of D*. Our DVR-40 is having problems. I just purchased a new DVR-80. This is free after rebate and activation. I also want to exchange out the DVR-40 so I have something as a backup.
I really don't need 2 of these going at the same time and I think there is another $5 charge for the other receiver. Is this true?
So my plan is to activate the new DVR-80 and call D* for a replacement of the DVR-40. Is there any issue with getting a non activated unit exchanged? Do they alway exchange it with the same model? I don't really want a R-10 or R-15.
Any one had any equipment serviced (exchanged) by D* after they deactivated it?
Unless you're paying for the extra coverage or the unit is VERY new and still under warranty, D* is not going to service or exchange you unit. If the unit is deactivated I can't see any reason D* would service or exchange a defective unit.
