I think I have done a good job for first pass, but the brand new 320 Gb drive I put in my new series 2 TCD5400040 only shows 152 hours or capacity in the System Information menu. I used the Tiger's Mfs tools floppy program I downloaded from Hinsdale, first making a backup on a FAT32 drive with: mfsbackup -f 9999 -6so /mnt/dos/tivo.bak /dev/hdc. I then went right for restore and expand in one step with: mfsrestore -s 127 -xzpi /mnt/dos/tivo.bak /dev/hdc. I am not sure what version of MFS floppy tools I have. Could it be possible I need to use "-xzbpi" instead to get a bigger recording capacity? Is there a better approach? Everything is working fine, but I am just not getting the 300 hrs I expected

To expand a single drive beyond 137GB you need to use a "LBA48" Linux kernel when you use mfstools. You probably have an older boot disk that does not support larger than 137GB drives. You'll have to find a LBA48 boot disk and then re-do the restore/expand.

I did the same thing, and Dan is right. Get the PTV LBA48 Boot CD. A link can be found in the first "Sticky" post on this forum. It will cost $5 to download, but it is worth it. Good luck.
