Very few of them have been as blatant as that one, Ken. As muggum said, they basically figured they'd go even further over the top that night since they knew Ingrid was already convinced it was a con.

There have been several subtle nods to things that happen on other shows, but for the most part it is just overall comedy. For example, the plane that appeared in the promos for Ep 5 appearas to just be a hysterical way for Bryce to continue input in the game ... but it also turns out, there was a lot of "interference" on one of the seasons of Big Brother a few years back because people started flying over the "Secluded" house telling people things they wouldn't have known otherwise (ie: secrets told to the audience via confessionals).

And of course, due to Paul Wernick's involvement in "Big Brother", one could expect such "nods" even in a show that isn't actually directly parodying his old show this time around!

There are several "in-jokes" in each episode that are funnier if you are familiar with past reality shows. It's not required to enjoy the show, but it does make things a bit funnier at times.

At least not until tonight when
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
a plane with a banner behind it goes over the house!
and even then it's not really a direct parody.

/hijack/

What's with the DVD set putting the producer credits (Stone Stanley, --- & Werrick, and Spike TV) after every single clip of deleted scenes and outtakes? That got very annoying very fast.

Gray, did you type that --- on purpose?

Nice article on Ingrid from the paper in Syracuse, NY, where she went to Syracuse University:

No spoilers.

Yes, I did, since I can't remember who's Werrick's partner.

It begins with the letter "R" and rhymes with the plural of the word "mice."

The season 1 DVD is great. Now keep in mind it's not some summer blockbuster movie, so it's impossble to expect a 20-disc special limited compendium edition or whatever crazy stuff they come up with, but it does have a lot of great stuff for it's limited budget. The comentary on the reveal is one of the more interesting commentaries I've ever heard (I listened to it twice -- how sick) and the evicition ceremony interviews were a great addition.

I'd say it met what could possibly be expected of it.

Maybe we should have said "it reminds you of a circular candy bar with chocolate and peanut butter". Oh, and it's "Wernick".

Also in episode 5:
(Spoilers for JS2 Ep. 5 and Survivor season 7)
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Ingrid's eviction parodies Jonny Fairplay's lying about his grandmother's death to gain an advantage. The producers caught him when they called his house to offer condolences and the grandmother answered the phone. Unlike in JS2, though, the Survivor deception was not revealed to the contestants.
