Gee, based on (20th Century) European History I'm going to guess that they learn "German," just in case.

Or, based on current trends, perhaps they should learn Arabic.

Any guess as to the meaning of the bird-fluttering sound that we keep hearing? It's always heard by the character whom the episode is focusing on: In this episode while Jin was sitting alone in the forest after the fire; in Sayid's episode after he left Rousseau; in Boone's episode during his 'vision quest'.

I'm going by memory, but I think that's right. Did it happen to every character?

We know Walt torched the boat and we know Locke covered for him. I'm reminded of the incident when Sayid was knocked out while trying to triangulate the frenchwoman's signal. Locke didn't hesitate to turn suspicions toward Sawyer. Either his gift for reading people failed him or he was deflecting suspicions from himself.

Of course, he didn't know at the time that the island was inhabited (as far as we know). But, I think it's a curious inconsistency in his character whether intentionally placed there by the writers or not.

Makes him 'real', IMO. Yes, he's in tune with the island, has seen things that lead him to believe this is a.. borderline 'magical' place, and believes this gives him some degree of intuition into people's motives and needs - but he's still just a guy who was chained to a desk, relegated to a wheelchair, so in need of something in his life that he flew to Australia to connect to... the 'greater power?'

Just a guy.

Errr? [Tilts head, ears go up] Wasn't it Jin who first tried to kill Michael in an unprovoked attack over a watch? Wasn't that why Jin was handcuffed to a piece of the fuselage? I'd say the crappiness of their relationship is due to both of them flying off the handle without thinking first.

[edited for spelling and an additional comment]

He didn't say Jin wasn't also an ass.

Anybody recognize the song that Hurley was listening to at the end? Was it Ryan Adams?

According to TV Tome, it will be a 24 episode season, with the Finale airing May 11.

Anybody have a copy of this episode that they can share? I just moved into a new house and had my cables wired wrong.
