OCTOBER 4th?? I'd better hurry, that's tomorrow!!!

Thanks, JC! Can't tell you how frustrating it was to get the sudden "delete/don't delete" pop-up JUST as he was going to hit the button (or looked like it anyway)...literally, it stopped with his finger hovering over the execute button.

By the way, this was pretty funny -- we had heavy thunderstorms in the area for a couple of hours, and EVERY TIME during Lost that it went to a commercial break, the weather guy came on and said "We're not going to interrupt Lost but we need to let you know what's going on..." and would proceed with an update. So they interrupted the commercials instead of Lost for the big updates, then just did the usual crawl across the bottom as needed during the show. I couldn't believe how he emphasized that every time, that they weren't cutting in to Lost for the weather bulletins. Networks must be making the locals aware of viewer unhappiness with such things during hit shows??

Wow, very considerate since they usually don't seem to care. I've always wondered why bad weather never seems to happen during commercials, only during actual shows.

Maybe the weatherman him/herself is a Lost fanatic, and refuses to work during the show lest he/she miss the show!

AAGGHH!! Can't wait!!!

Semi-smeek (ooh, my first! woohoo!); I noticed the same thing last week which I mentioned here; the commercials were interrupted for the Jet Blue emergency landing in California.

This might be the best trend ever.

OK so I saw this link in a blog. Very interesting. I searched this thread for GPS and found NOTHING so I am posting WITHOUT having to read the last 4 pages since my absence from the board a few days ago.

Very interesting. That puts them about 165 miles off the great circle path between Sydney and LA.

This was discussed extensively last season when the numbers first surfaced. You have to arbitrarily make some of them negative in order to get that location however. If they are all put in as positive, the location is somewhere in Africa.

I think I'll just keep my ego propped up by pointing out that I did this last year every time this thread hits a new page...

I THOUGHT I had been up to date last season, however I was wrong. Well I am sure there is some "others" that have not read this.

Only if they didn't read back about 40 posts or so in this thread, because it was said there too.

That's only when the numbers are used as degrees and minutes. This is a new way, since they're entered as is in decimal format. There's another thread that has more discussion.

You still have to make the Longitude negative to represent West and not East Longitude, regardless of the format.

And either way, decimal or d/m/s gets you into the same region...in the Pacific around the general flight path.

What's negative about 4.815 and 162.342?

Nothing, the way you wrote it, but the assumption then is that you are talking about 4.815° N and 162.342° E.

I was remembering the first way people tried it, before breaking up the numbers that way, and it made a big difference.

At roughly 4° Latitude and 162° Longitude you can pretty much interchange N/S as well as E/W and get into the same general area of the Pacific. Being that they were 1000 miles off course, any of the 4 resulting locations are reasonable guesses.

Entering "4.815 162.342" comes up at 4.815° N and 162.342° W in Google Earth.

Then they assume the user preference or default is the western hemisphere. I assure you that in coordinates, +=East and -=West.

Great... The thread for tonight's episode is already to 23 replies, and I bet they consist of "I can't wait for the show!" and "what do you think will happen!". The signal to noise ratio in these threads is bad enough without sandbagging the front end.

Very true. I always find myself trying to skip down to the first post of someone who has actually watched the show.

Well it's not exactly hard, but with people in different time zones it's not always as easy as just checking the time stamps.

Sure it is...once the first showing is done, 10 pm Eastern, 9 Central, 8 Mountain, 7 Pacific, people will be talking about it here. It never takes longer than that.

phew.. (Boston viewers: WMUR, not WCVB!)

Mini heart attack.. Ok, the Red Sox game is on ABC (well, WCVB in Boston), so they're not showing Lost tonight.. (then I heard there was a commercial saying they WOULD show it at 11:35pm). But WMUR (channel 9) IS showing it at 9pm.

Too bad I can't see it in HD.

TiVo set up, ready to go. Can't wait!!
