Unofficial Official "Champagne Super NoVA" New Years Hotel Thread

Coming to Virginia for New Years Eve? Need a hotel room for Friday, Saturday, and maybe even Sunday nights? Want to stay where all the cool kids are sleeping? (By that, I mean not me.)

Then look no further!

Popular opinion (Skittles, harvascar, and YCantAngieRead -- again, not me) have made the Courtyard Manassas Battlefield Park the unofficial official hotel of the meet.

How much?
$79/night. AAA member save $8. (The rate is promotional and may not be available when you make your reservation. Be sure to check out the few restrictions.)

UPDATE: Our own Havana Brown spoke to the hotel and got a block of 20 rooms at $74 night! Thank you HB!

You sold me. Where is it?
Great! Google Maps. It's about 10 miles to Chez Merc. (Right, Merc?)

What do I get?
Um, a bed. And a TV. Oh, free high-speed Internet, if you're in to that crazy Internet thing.

It's a Courtyard by Marriott, go to to the web site and see what they've got!

What's the catch?
Well, when I booked my room, all I really needed -- seeing as how I'm local -- was a place to sleep Saturday night. But, the hotel site and Orbitz would not give me any available rooms for Saturday. Instead, I booked a room online at the Marriott.com web site for Friday and Saturday night, and then changed my reservation (also online) to arrive on Saturday.

I plan on phoning the reservation line before too long to find out if this is intentional, or if there is something wrong with the hotel availability and also verify my reservation.

Will someone drive me back to the hotel if I have five too many?
For my own sake, I hope that can be arranged.

What's your room number?
Wow. You're funny. Uh, I haven't checked in yet. Stop staring at me.

Does anyone want to share a room?
Ask below!

What time is check-in? Check-out?
3:00 PM. 12:00 PM.

How far is it to Dulles, or National, or Thurgood Marshall Baltimore-Washington International Airports?
17 miles. 32 miles. 63 miles. Click on the Google Maps link above to get specific driving instructions.

Who's made a reservation at the Courtyard Manassas?
Skittles

I'm booked there now for Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. $71 a night with AAA membership, and I get me some Marriott Rewards points, too!

I'll be happy to serve as designated driver.

We'll probably be able to serve as DD as well.

Oh. And we probably won't want to share a room.

If I can crash at Chez Merc, that would be preferable in my current financial situation. If not, I could use a roomie or 3 at the hotel...

I've booked Saturday and Sunday night at the $71 AAA rate (despite the theme from "Three's Company" running through my head while doing so). Thanks for the heads up!

I would suggest to anyone even considering NYE to go ahead and book. Cancellation policy is by 6 p.m. day of arrival. Go ahead, do it, do it, you know you want to.

Guvment rate was higher than AAA, so went for the AAA 71 bux a nite.

What Havana said. Even if you're *thinking* about coming, or are just dallying with the idea as a passing fancy... make the reservation. You get charged nothing in advance, and you won't have to worry about not being able to find a room when you DO end up deciding to come.

What Havana and Skittles said. I have other trips I haven't planned yet, that are coming sooner, but I didn't wanna lose this one.

And since this is rapidly becoming the "place", I grabbed here

It will be. Literally, if I can do it, so can you. I don't think it's possible to be more nervous about meeting people than I am.

So you know, if it makes you feel better, you can deflect your nervousness by pointing at me and laughing. I don't mind.

A ponderance...how many people do you have to have staying at a hotel for group rates?

Ok, just in case, I've made a reservation from Friday night until Sunday.

Now let me get back to looking at airfare. BTW, I'm at the 85% sure I'm attending mark.
