The Invaders - Violence Cut By CHN5 - Why?

"The Invaders" is shown well after the "Watershed" - normally just after 04:00am.

So why have they been at them with the scissors?

I just noted the episode "The Organization" only has a running time of just of 45mins rather than 48/9.

Thus I have just compared this episode with the 1992 showing by BBC2 and the 1997 showing by the Sci-Fi channel.

Both of these seem to be complete showing David Vincent being questioned up by two of Peter Calter (J.D. Canon's) thugs.

Followed by him arriving in his Rolls Royce to where David is behing held.

The parts cuts are not very violent so why would chn5 bother?

In the early days they also cut out the actI, actII etc, however they seemed to have stopped doing this.

Only a few more episodes to watch and that was J.D. Canon's third and final roll in the series.

The Vise - (20/02/1968)
The Miracle - (27/02/1968)
The Life Seekers - (05/03/1968)
The Pursued - (12/03/1968)
Inquisition - (26/03/1968)

Just finished recording to DVD from VHS the BB2 showing made on 17th Jan 1993 at 12:50

My machine says it is 49:07 in length

The CHN5 version made on 20th March 2005 is 45:16 seconds long.

Nearly 4 minutes of exciting action cut!

Or could be they had four minutes to remove for the time slot - and the good bits lost.

Maybe they bought a child-friendly series, without knowing when they might show it.

I feel a bit sad that it's nearing the end as I've wholeheartedly enjoyed watching these again, a good bit of nostalgia.

CHN5 also managed to voiceover the only episode with a different end credits music score.

Episode 4 I think it was.

In epsiode 40 if I recall a young child has his faced slapped - will they show that?

I assume you have also all paid a visit to http://www.theinvaders.co.uk

Wow! You get The Invaders! I loved that show and it hasn't played in the US for a long time. I heard it was once on the Science Fiction Channel (before my cable company added it). I haven't seen it since reruns in the early 70's and there doesn't seem to be any plans to release it to DVD.

It was on this Sunday gone, and they did show it.

Sounds Interesting. I never caught it on the Sci-fi channel.

All finished now except of course the new low grade UK Tivo EPG data says it on and then deletes it before air date.

Perhaps they will show the next season of "First Wave" http://www.wallpaperlinks.be/eng/epis-firstwave.htm
