Security Webcam

I would love to have an interface to my Security webcam via my TIVO. Having the abilty to click on "webcam" and see a streaming picture of my local webcam would be pretty cool. Right now i have to use my computer to see who is at the door which works if i am sitting with my laptop but if i could just click on "Webcam" in the menu and see a streaming video of what my webcam is seeing that would be too cool. Not only cool but it could be used as a selling point. Now, i do understand that not many people use webcams as security cams but i think one could imagine the interest that it potetially might stir up. Don't most webcams use a basic webserver to display their images? If that is true then pointing tivo to the correct static IP address and port number shouldn't be that difficult. Has anyone ever turned a wireless mic on during a dinner party and passed it around? well, in my experience most people get a pretty big kick out of hearing themself on sound system, i think the same could be said about people seeing themself on TV screen.

This is a very, very simple HME application. But it would need to run on a PC in your home, not on TiVo's servers.

There may be an HME webcam app or two floating around, I know a couple of developers were working on them.

Or you could write your own app, exactly as you want it. There's an HME Developer forum right here on this site, with a couple of nice tutorials on getting started.
