Series 2 - 3.1.1d software release watch thread

I just noticed last night the 3.1.1d software has been downloaded from the satellite to Series 2 machines. Soon DirecTV should be activating the release over the phone. Machines are typically chosen at random to activate the update and on there next phone call will activate. This process can take a few months. This thread is so we can monitor the release of 3.1.1d and find out when it is in the wild.

BTW, the HD DirecTiVos have already started activating 3.1.5d.

kenr,
That thread is for the HDTiVo software release as rminsk stated.
HDTiVo getting 3.1.5d
SD TiVo getting 3.1.1d

So is there any word on the next one for the series 1 SD TiVos? 3.1.0d maybe?

I do not think anyone really knows yet. I may try to install it manually. I wonder if it is to support the 72.5 locals?

How do you know if it's been downloaded? I don't see anything on my system info screen indicating that there is a new software version waiting to be activated.

You can't unless you have shell access or TiVoWeb. It's not visible on the TiVo GUI

I'm still running 3.1.1b on my (unmodified) HDVR2. Whenever a daily call is made, the status is set to "Pending Reboot" and when it reboots I get the "Installing new Software" message, but the upgrade never actually happens. (The call shows as being successful.)

What are the odds that my update to 3.1.1d will work? (And why hasn't the c update ever happened? I spoke with the support folks, and they opened a ticket, but I never heard any more from them.)

The "c" update may not have happened because your second boot partition may be bad or the "c" image may be bad. The DirecTiVo has two boot partitions. The new software is installed in the 2nd unused partition during the reboot and then the boot partitions are swaped. If something wrong is detected when installing the image on the second partition the boot partitions are not swapped.

Where does that say what it fixes. If its network logos like the HD units I do not have issues with the network logos. Seems like a waste.

This upgrade also fixes the audio drop-outs on HD Net for the HD TiVo. No updates yet on what it does for the SD units.

My point is that no one knows. The logos are just a side effect of a software updates. New logo slices are always shipped with new software releases.

I would be happy if it fixes the audio dropouts on the Music Choice channels... But I doubt it.

When you go thru the multiswitch check to detect sats takes a long time.
Guide still seems slow.
Under system info manufacture name changed from HUGHES to THE DIRECTV GROUP.

Went thru all the menus didnt notice anything else.

Under dish setup, I see auto detect sat info, (says do not do this unless instructed by installer or customer service rep) this may of been there all along.

It may not show 72.5 unless you have the new 6x8 multswitch (Phase III + 18 inch) http://www.solidsignal.com/prod_dis...oom=zoom#xview. I do not know how the signaling works on the new dish but it seems to have to try to timeout and overflow to the 2 new ports.

What are you worried about? 3.1.1d has just started rolling out today. It may take a few months before everyone gets it.

I forced a call and nothing to speak of, I did get 3.1.1d but other than logos I see nothing new. This would be consistent with a ..1d rev

Tried my modded HDVR2 (running 4.0.1) nothing there either but it does connect to TiVo and not to D*

Logos slices come with all software updates. Most people think it is for locals on the 72.5 satellite.

Does anyone know if this contains modem "slow down" codes that would permit you to use the HDVR2 with VoIP?

Forced a call on both my HDVR2's and got "d" software update. I usually get the software updates on one of the machines a few weeks before the other.I am in an area set to get locals on 72.5. Maybe the update is going to those customers first.

Why not? Do you want people not to be able to see the 72.5 satellite?

Please update the Series 1 DTV!

I have *yet* to get 3.1.1c

The old DSR6000 bumped up to 3.1.0c within days of release. Moot point as it was immediately ousted by the HR10-250. HR10-250 got its software bump already as well.

Yesterday I pulled the 120gb drive from the DSR6000 and returned its original 40gb. One call in (even though it's officially out of service) and it updated to 3.2.0c.

Today I'm replacing the HDVR2(3) 40gb with the trusty old 120gb. Maybe it's been a bad OS backup partition that has held off the bump so far. Maybe I'll know after a daily call this evening.

Maybe pigs will fly?

Oh well, at HR10-250 will be upgraded to a pair of 250gb drives next week whrn the WeaKnees bracket arrives and the HDVR2(3) will have a bunch more space no matter what rev software.
