6.2 OUTSIDE So Cal watch thread

Ok... the other threads are so polluted now with political jokes, 4.x discussion, HMO/MRV discussion, 30 second skip, etc. I think it's time that there's a separate watch thread for 6.2 for those OUTSIDE Southern California.

So, for those outside So Cal who's units have actually been upgraded to and are running 6.2, please post here.

I'm located in Seattle and have not yet heard of anybody getting 6.2.

Thanks for starting the new thread. I was about to do that same thing.

I live in So Cal but, due to my VOip, I have to call New York for my weekly call. Tried forcing calls about twice a day. Still no luck. Oh well...

I'm in Seattle and I received my upgrade last week after forcing a call. I'm running a hacked Hughes SD-DVR40. I've successfully upgraded it and put in a 2.4.20 killhdinitrd kernel. The only thing I miss so far is TWP.

i guess no one is getting the point of this thread...... if your unit has been upgraded and you're not in cal then post....

Then no one would post, and you would have to be bumping it back to the top. We're saving you the trouble. No one is getting it outside of S. Calif. yet!

I just wanted to document the fact that I *don't* have 6.2 and I am *in* Los Angeles county. I know the rollout was a lottery of some sort, but I figured I would have had it by now. Long story short, if I don't have it 99.9% chance you don't.

I'm surprised there isn't a sticky as much as some of us want the update.

No, he hacked it to install from the downloaded slices. His exploits are chronicled on DDB.

if that is true... i don't think him having it is really relevant to this thread..... im in WV and no update to my SDDVR40 or my DSR708.. definitely not for the hr10-250 either.. but that is expected.

I'm in Orange County, Southern California but haven't received 6.2 yet. What's interesting to me though is that I've forced a daily call every day for the past several days and each time it says that the next scheduled call will be on Tuesday at 6:03pm. So, perhaps that's when I'm going to get the upgrade?

Think if we started a "Who doesn't have 6.2 thread in SoCal", that we can only get those who have it outside of SoCal to post? Seems like every other thread people post opposite what the thread asks, so it might work.

Outside So. Cal not until April 1st

No April Fool's Day either. Friend at Directv told me they will do the next round of So. Cal customers this week and that should take care of L.A.

If all goes well, then will then give it to all of the eligible customers probably at the end of March or the first week of April. They apparently take it slow just to make sure there are no glitches and units aren't blowing up, that sort of thing.

When you force a call it does not update the next call in date.

Sorry, misread the first post, thought it was "received 6.2", not "been upgraded" (implying activation from the mothership). In that case, no, I never received the switch to activate 6.2, had to do it manually.
