1) TiVoToGo them to your computer, strip the DRM, edit as much as you want with your favorite video editor, transfer them back to the TiVo.

2) Burn them to a DVD-RW, rip them to a computer, edit as much as you want with your favorite video editor, transfer them back to the TiVo.

Step 2 would make no sense at all compared to step 1, except that some people claim they can burn and rip faster than TiVoToGo'ing and stripping the DRM. Probably depends on your network setup.

Note that in both cases you'll lose most of the program information associated with the recording, once it's back on the TiVo.
