R15 is okay,definitely not a tivo though

In terms of features, I was moderately impressed but in all I say thus far the Ultimate TV Dvr is by far the best.

With the R15, I thought it would at least have a front panel clock display and could've been offered in a black finish as well.

What i'm trying to say here is that Directv enters into these relationships with different companies;never seeing it through.

However,I don't see why Directv has to stop manufacturing Tivo units;albeit, that DTV decided to deploy it's own company software to phase out Tivo.

My suggestion is that DTV should offer both TIVO /NDS Dvr's to see what customers pfefer the most.

Furthermore,I would like to know if the R15 is only being made by HUMAX or by other manufacturers. My code says 500=meaning Humax.

p.s. just thought I would make small talk.

To continue your small talk on the R15... head over to www.dbstalk.com

The moderators/owners of this particular forum system has requested that we take the R15 discussions else where. (see the announcment at the top of the forum for more details)

The announcement at the top of the fourm about the R15 discussions seems to have disappeared...Maybe a sponsor's request?

Or maybe now that there's an established, well known forum for discussions, troubleshooting and installation of the r15 there's no need to remind folks not to discuss the best way to break-in a new ford engine in a chevy forum.

When I first saw/read the announcement I noticed that it had a time limit on it... e.g. see the current announcement re: AOL EMAIL USERS - it has this at the top: 12-06-2005 until 01-08-2006

So, I guess the time for the announcement has expired and new R15 topics will proliferate.

Yup... Asked David... He said it was just a temporary thing, that the mods and the users that know (to redirect people) are now responsible for redirecting the traffic.

Pace is also building R15s, but I don't know if any are in the channel yet. Humax had a 3 or 4 month head start.

Perhaps you never fully used the features of your DTivo. How do you get the R15 to automatically record all talk shows (but not any movies) that Tom Hanks appears on?

Since the DirecTiVo is CRAP, I really would like to help you out. You can clean up the air in your home and keep your home from smelling like CRAP, by sending me the DirecTiVo, and I will dispose of it for you.

Crap - Noun - Vulgar Slang

1. Excrement.
2. An act of defecating.
3. Foolish, deceitful, or boastful language.
4. Cheap or shoddy material.
5. Miscellaneous or disorganized items; clutter.
6. Insolent talk or behavior.

Funny thing, I do not have to reboot my DirecTiVos and they do not lock up on me. Must be that you treated your DirecTiVo like CRAP, so your DirecTiVo treated you like CRAP. Go figure.

Ah, now I see... who needs a Porsche or BMW when all you are doing is going to get bread and milk at the store.
