Do I understand correctly? If you press thumbs up on a show, it's more likely to be recorded as a suggestion at a later date? But if you press thumbs down, then it's going to mis-interpret your tastes.

What we need is an "already seen" button, so it won't get recorded as a suggestion.

Or it should just understand that, if I press "thumbs up", then I must have already seen the show. After all, how could I know it's a good show if I haven't seen it yet?

What we need is a better priority situation in the suggestions engine.

1) Grab all new shows based on existing thumbs ratings. Shows that are simular to triple TU ratings get picked first, then double TU, then single TU.

2) Grab all rated programs NOT in the season pass list, same priority as above.

3) BY USER CONTROL: Have an override for programs in the season pass list set to First Run Only - If the user desires, at last resort, TiVo will record any program, in the same priority as above.

Thumbs up and down does far more than rate the show. Does it make the unit more likely to record that show? Yes. But the idea is that you're building a *pool* of data. The thumbs ratings effect the actors, directors, writers, genre, etc. Which is why the more you rate the better it is, the larger the pool of data and the more the unit tends to suggest other shows that meet the overall ratings.
