I'm running Tivo Desktop 2.2 but have run earlier versions in the past. I just started getting back into this so that I can move content to my new Video iPod. When I transfer content to my PC I'm getting prompts for a password and I've tried my MAC and any other normal password that I would use and they all fail. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 2.2 and the same problem still exists. Anyone have an answer? How can I remove this password problem which appears to be a leftover from an earlier TivoToGo install.
I found the answer. The issue is related to Roxio 8.0 and it's media manager. See here for how to solve (I can't post URLs because of a restriction on my id but the answer is on the forums_tivo_com under TivoToGO posted on 12/26/05 with a subject of " Get stuck in "Enter your password for playing TiVo recordings" loop "
"Firstly, it is a ROXIO issue. It is NOT a Tivo Desktop Issue (2.2 works fine). It appears this file is tied in to the Media Manager (in ROXIO 8), which watches all of your folders, or at least the ones designated for changes.
However, there appears to be a BUG. IF you are "watching" the folder with your Tivo Rdcordings, and tivo files, any activity in there that is detected WILL BRING UP THIS PASSWORD BOX.
A Simple workaround... Go to ROXIO and in your WATCHED FOLDERS in list (you may have the icon in the taskbar) in Media Manager. Then UNCHECK the folder with your Tivo recordings (the one with the lil tivo man). Just a hint, this is a quirky proces, and you MAY have to actually deselect the entire drive and reselect the subfolders you want one by one. If the drive (c) has a checkmark you can not turn the subfilders to a red x to not be "watched" it seems."
