i live in the san francisco/bay area, and am going to upgrade to hd next week. now that we have mpeg4 and can get the locals through the satellite, do i still need an antenna for ota? from what i'm reading, it sounds like it's a good idea to have both as the sat reception is still a little iffy for some channels. is this right?
If you want to DVR HD Recordings... then the only unit out right now is the HR10-250... and for that you would need to get your HD Locals via OTA, unless you are lucky enough to get waivers for the LA feeds (which is REALLY tough now).
Supposidly in Q1/2006 they will be releasign the HR20 that will allow you to DVR the MPEG-4 signal via the SAT
so just to be clear, if i get the hd10-250 i have to get an antenna? what about if i just go the h20 receiver route? would i still need an antenna or does the mpeg4 technology eliminate it? again, i'm mostly concerned with what i've read that even with mpeg4, some folks are still having problems receving their locals though the sat and do better with an antenna.
