R10 hacking

I am interested in doing two things with my R10.

1. I would like to get a bigger HD in the unit.

2. I would love to somehow get the HMO working on it.

Is there a web site that shows you how to add a second HD to the Tivo or get HMO workign on it?

If I can't get HMO working on this unit, which units would it work on?

And is Tivo a completely dead platform for DirecTV? Is there any chance they may enable HMO on it?

#1... no problem, did it on day one... You can go as large as dual 500gb drives
#2... no chance as of right now, there is hardware protection that accounts for code changes.

As for the HardDrive... Just follow any of the Upgrade guides out there for Series 2 Tivos (Hinsdale is the best in my opinion)

"Dead"... depends on your definition.
It will still work... but no changes are expected... but I will hold off on that statement until we see what happens after CES network.

But don't count on HMO ever being available on the DTivo models.

As for HMO... Any of the Series 2 units it will work on. The R10 is deemed a Series 2.5 as it usues a new motherboard layout.

1. Try the Tivo Upgrade Center Forum.
2. Try the Tivo Underground Forum and "The Zipper" (search for Tivo zipper).

Anyone can hack err umm enhance the R10 but...

First one needs to replace the PROM.
The other site with a database of deals from time to time sells PROMs.
Once that is done look in the Tivo Underground Forum for the enhancement script, A.K.A. tweak and then the R10 is enhanced.

I have MRV, TWP, and a few others running on both my R10's.

But I found the RCA DVR40/80 to be way easier to enhance, no removal of surfacemounted IC chips and stuff.
