I have a series 1 that I am going to do some upgrades on. I've already got a Seagate 300 GB drive that I plan to add (I will probably just replace the 20 already there since it doesn't add much space and I don't have the second bracket). I also want to add a network card and I'm torn between the CacheCard and the TurboNet. I've tried to do my research (Including digging through about 100 posts on this site) and it mostly seems like the added cache helps with the watching of live TV and managing of season passes. Since I only plan on using my Tivo as a VCR replacement and will NOT be subscribing to Tivo I will not be doing much of either function.
Does the CacheCard really benefit when just going in to watch recorded programs? Is there any other benefit to the cachecard over the TurboNet such as network reliability or ease of install?
I don't mind spending the extra cache...I mean cash...but only if there is some benefit to it. Normally I error to the side of overpowering something (argh, argh, argh, argh!), but would like some expert opinion.
