"Tivo powering up"

Ugh... Turned my TV on tonight, to be greeted by a totally non responsive Tivo, with both the red and green lights on. After pushing every button on the remote ( yes! I even changed the remotes batteries) I unplugged the Tivo.

I now have 2 yellow lights on the front and I'm stuck on a page saying " Welcome. Powering up" - it's now been about 30 mins. Please , please dont let this be another hard drive failure?

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Your TiVo is suffering from IR interference. Probably a remote with a stuck button.

Cover the front panel window (to exclude the stray signals) and power cycle. The TiVo will boot normally.

It won't respond to the remote until you find the source of the interference and silence it.

Robert,

well looks like you are correct ( naturally) Now all I have to do, is find out which of my 6 remotes has a stuck in button, and work out which scart lead goes back where as I pulled the whole lot out, to refit my old VCR in a panic.

Thanks for your help..

Wayne

don't forget the digital camera trick - use a digital camera with an LCD viewfnder to look at the transmitters on all your remotes - the one(s) transmitting will look very bright
