Gilmore Girls: Thank you Neenahboy

In Happy Hour's True Confessions thread you mentioned to SparkleMotion that the pilot of Gilmore Girls was coming around around again. I've read bits of chatter about this series for a while but have never seen an episode. I set the SP and recorded a few recent episodes but held off watching those until the pilot came on, which it did on Friday.

Oh. My. God.

Lauren Graham is hotness defined and if there's any woman out there that acts like Lorelai (the elder) or at least thinks she does, what are you doing on Friday night?

The writing and dialoge was wonderful - right up there with the Trinity of Buffy-Angel-Serenity.

I got a new show to watch! Good thing too. I've basically run out of series that I enjoy and needed something like this.

Thanks for bringing it up, Neenahboy. I owe ya one.

Isn't it a great show? Glad you got a chance to see it.

Lauren Graham not only is hot, but she's had some Emmy-caliber performances on the show. It's absolutely criminal that she's never been nominated.

Now go get those DVD sets!

Really glad you enjoyed it. It only gets better as it goes on.

What makes the show great? The writing. Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Daniel are genius and consistent. This show is in it's 6th year and they are both still involved writing and directing episodes. Plus their pedigree ain't bad, Amy used to write for "Roseanne" and Daniel wrote for "Cheers" and still writes and produces "Family Guy".

One more thing in the pilot if I remember correctly there is some inconsistency as far as Rory's dad goes. I think the 1st couple episodes he is this rich software developer in California and they abandon that a couple episodes in.

Yep, that was in the pilot.

I'm certain that I'll be too distracted watching other things to know or care when the switch comes.

Not for long it seems. This weeks entertainment weekly is questioning Sherman- Palliadino being on board next year due to their new project. . GG will continue, but maybe without them in the seat.

Page 21 of December 2nd, with Clooney on the cover.

It doesn't say they are definitely leaving, they just didn't comment on continuing to write.

Here's a link about the new project, the article I'm refering to is the followup to this, and different. . http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/200..._gilmore_i.html

It's the new one. I got it yesterday, but you'll probably get it tomorrow.

I really doubt that they'd abandon the show; they're the ones that brought it to fruition, and I just find it hard to believe that they wouldn't see it through.

On a side note, TV.com lists the next episode as airing on 1/10/06. Is this true or not?

GG is great, this season has been good, but has had some slow spots, but in the last few episodes has gotten better.

After watching several episodes, which just keep getting better and better, I noticed something today that I hadn't noticed before . . . .

Holy S**T! That's Sally Struthers!

I want to second the OP. I recorded the first three episodes manually after seeing the posting about the pilot coming, and then set the SP. Great to watch while cooking dinner.

I first caught the pilot this summer and got hooked. I was tivoing all the new episodes and saving them to watch until I got caught up with the first five seasons. Had all of this season on my Tivo when it died. I've mailed it off to be fixed or replaced, but I am guessing I have lost the first half of season 6. Now I am trying to decide if I should just jump in mid-season or wait til I can watch everything in order.

Also, I noticed when I rewatched the pilot last week that Kirk introduces himself as "Mick" and his character didn't know Lorelia - he was there to install a DSL line.

Anyway - it is a great show and I am so glad I finally gave it a chance!

Yup. I'm guessing that's the only episode he was to be in but probably proved to be quirky enough to be a regular resident of Stars Hallow.

I may have said this in another thread already, but it bears repeating.

Thank you Neenahboy! I'm really enjoying the show.

I've been rewatching season five, and it got me thinking: where did Marty go? I don't think he's appeared at all this season, and I'm still kinda hoping Rory ends up with him.

Just in case:

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Maybe now that she is back at Yale he will be back in the mix.

How did I miss this thread? I just started watching with the latest restart on ABC Family. I've been watching on my bus ride commute into Dallas and back on my PSP. It looks like ABC Family skipped the episode where Luke makes Lorelai the Santa Burger. I saw it on a "previously on..." and had to go find that episode.

As a dramedy, this show isn't always laugh out loud funny, but I swear, I just keep the biggest grin on my face every time Lorelai and Emily snipe at each other. Rory and Lorelai do it too, but on a much kinder level. I also like Sookie and Jackson with their side story. I read on Jackson's IMDB entry that Alex Borstein was originally supposed to play Sookie, but had to take the smaller role of Drella due to contractual obligations. I think Melissa McCarthy works much better as the sweet, but clumsy chef.

I didn't see Christopher's back story as being inconsistent yet. It certainly appears that he has been misrepresenting himself to some extent and then got caught in the internet bust.

Yeah, I missed it, too. I've been watching faithfully since the re-start last month...and I even managed to get a free copy of the Season 5 DVD set.

Too bad it will take awhile to get around to those shows! But that's okay. It's a fun watch and I don't mind waiting.

I had a SP conflict yesterday and it didn't record yesterday afternoon, and wouldn't you know it today it's not showing in its usual a.m. slot, either. Grrr.
