Pleasant dish moving experience

Since mostly problems are usually posted on here I wanted to post a pleasant experience. I have been having cut offs on our locals here for a bit but had chalked it up to just crappy locals but when I turned to one of the sports channels on the 600s, it said searching for satellite 1. I saw it was windy outside and figured some tree must have grown from last year (darn mother nature).

My dish is on the porch roof, easy access, so I figured I'd try to just move it to the higher point on that roof to buy myself a few year's growth, rather than find a totally new place. I unbolted the base and found the general place where a signal was found, then bolted it down and prepared to do fine tuning. The base is actually at approx. 20 degree angle to the slope but I guess i got it just right and the roof must be consistently sloped because I'm getting better readings than ever, without untightning those rusty other adjustments on the dish.

Now let's hope the rest of this week goes as smooth as this

57 inch Hitachi 57F710S
HR10-250 63 hrs w/DB8 antenna
HR10-250 stock
retired (must watch though) Sony T60 2-160 drives
Panasonic E80 Dvd recorder

“Be yourself, it’s easier isn’t it?”

It usually goes much smoother if you do it yourself. If you had called a "pro" installer to do this you'd have had to wait around for half a day for the "pro" to arrive, and probably been charged $100 for this simple procedure.

My wife and I re-adjusted our Tri-LNB dish for a much better signal than the installers had left it at, in about 1/10 the time. And it was my wife up on the roof doing the adjustments, I'm scared of heights (my job was calling out "okay, now it reads 95, dear!" )

WWJKD - what would Jim Kirk do?
