Drive Choice

Wanted to get some opinions on what drives are the quietest. I'm going to replace an aging noisy 150g Maxtor drive and want to purchase the same size drive but I would like for it to be quiet. What are some suggestions you may have from drives you have used?

Thanks,

Western Digital drives built after 01/01/05 are very quiet. Also, if you order an OEM drive online from Newegg, Zipzoomfly, etc..., you'll get a 3 year warr'ty.

I just got a 120gig seagate 7200.7 and its pretty quite. chatters a bit when loading and indexing the program guide but can't really hear that unless I press my ear next to the tivo.

You cannot go wrong with the Samsungs and I heard the new Western Digital 320Gb drive is pretty quiet.

Thanks for the replies. Officemax had a Western Digital 160g drive on sale for $60 after rebate, going to give it a try, anything has to be better than this 150g maxtor.

Make sure you enable AAM on that WD drive. If you don't, it probably won't be too much better than your Maxtor.

Seagate drives, you can't beat a 5 year warranty that comes with them
