Conversion Tool

Ok, so I've got Galleon installed on my linux machine... And it's working. So I'm trying to setup the videocasting and the goback...

I was looking at the conversion string at galleon's site but it's pointing to VLC on a windows box. Can someone provide a sample string for VLC on a linux box?

Thanks!

You can't convert .TiVo files on anything other than Windows since the the decryption is only handled by a DLL, which is Windows-only.

The OP isn't trying to convert from a .tivo, they're trying to convert a videocast file (most likely some flavor of mp4/divx/wmv) to a TiVo compatible MPEG2 file for eventaully playback on the tivo. The string I beleive they're referring to is:
Quote:
"c:/Program Files/VideoLan/VLC/vlc.exe" "{%1}" -I telnet --sout #transcode{vcodec=mp2v,vb=4096,width=720,height=480,fps=29.9 7,scale=1,acodec=mpga,ab=128,channels=2}:duplicate{ dst=std{access=file,mux=ps,url="{%2}"}} vlc:quit

I don't have much Linux experience, but I'm guessing the only thing needed is to have a properly working binary of VLC on the target machine, and pointing the first part of the command at that binary. I know that's probably not much help, but maybe someone else will be able to better elaborate.

I'm completely screwed in this regard myself -- just simply cannot get the convert video command to work with videocasting no matter how I format it. (This is for Mac OS X which uses the same download and Linux.)

The very first and most important part however is that the tokens that the *nix systems use is in the {$1} format and not the {%1} format that Windows uses.

The fact that so much of the Galleon instructions is Windows only makes the whole thing rather frustrating. It's only one last step before the whole thing works and there's no help at all for it anywhere.

Use the {%1} format as instructed on the Galleon site for any OS:
http://galleon.sourceforge.net/html/videocasting.html

You could also try to run the command manually in a terminal with the proper filenames in place to confirm that your VLC installation is correct.
