HDVR2 Searching for Sat 2???

Got my HR10-250 about a month ago. Disconnected my HDVR2 and have been watching the previous recordings off of it. Moved it to bedroom this evening, reconnected the cables and now it doesnt detect sat 2. Switched cables same thing, repeated guided setup, restarts, still no sat 2.

Can anyone help? It was working fine before I discon it.

Thanks

So you've swapped the two satellite coax inputs on the back and the problem is always the Sat2 input? Then it's pretty clear that something died with that tuner. You've already tried the easy stuff, like restarting the DVR. Repairing a tuner isn't something you can do yourself, though. You can keep the DVR as a single tuner DVR, or replace it.

I have noticed in the past that sometimes wiring that is borderline will not always work on the second connector, but always in my case I have solved the problem by replacing one of the cables or connectors. The second connection may not be bad. I recommend that before you replace it, you try it somewhere, like maybe where the HR10-250 is currently connected. If the HDVR2 works there, then cabling at the second location is very likely the problem.

I used to hand out this advice like peanuts at a ball game.
On my units I noticed that some of em like the center conductor on the coax to stick out about 3/16s of an inch or so. Most instructions for making your own say to cut it off flush with the connector, but I found that a couple of mine wouldn't get the signal that way.

Good advise! The length of the center conductor does seem to be a variable. But the best way he could use to check the HDVR2, is to reinstall it a location where it previously worked, which just might be the easiest way to test the second tuner on the HDVR2.
