I thought I knew what it was, and Googled it to confirm. I was wrong.

The heat was hot
and the ground was dry
but the air was full of sound

...randomly playing 150 GBs of music on my squeezebox...

I'm all over the map today:

We rock at dawn on the front line
Like a bolt right out of the blue
The sky's alight with the guitar bite
Heads will roll and rock tonight

This is pretty obscure (don't google it):

She dreams china white behind her eyes of china blue
Her future wrapped in velvet and her memories wrapped in warm cotton wool

.
.
.

Her patience starts to crumble
Like a rock that turns to sand
And time breaks down to seconds
When you’re waiting on a man

Cake, "Friend Is a Four-Letter Word."

(I swear, I didn't have to Google either one of these -- they're both in my collection.)

Your socks they smell, your feet they stink,
You never take a bath.
Your nose it runs, you bust your buns,
You always finish last.

The more I talk, the more I say
The less you seem to hear...
I'm speechless in a most peculiar way

Some balls are held for charity
And some for fancy dress
But when they're held for pleasure,
They're the balls that I like best.

That's "Big Balls" by AC/DC...but wait, I've got an even more obvious one...

Needlework the way, never you betray
Life of death becoming clearer
Pain monopoly, ritual misery
Chop your breakfast on a mirror

(There's a clever reason why this is more obvious)
