I assume you were responding to my previous post since you referenced the term "community". What I was trying to say was that I got luebster's point. I then offered another perspective on it (trying to put a more positive spin about WHY people were posting about this - at least in the beginning). Finally, I said "Hey, we all hang out here. That's what we do." , ending the sentence with a big . Apparently, some of you misunderstood this. Since then, the flames have been flying.

I was not refering to you when I made my post. I was actually more agreeing with you, and responding to Leubster. I was trying to say that we are a community and people like to know what is going on with others in that community. I for one am interested to know where people have gotten the updates and if anyone near me has. I am well aware that it is not geographical, I knew it before the update came out. But still I am interested if people nearby have or have not recieved it.

Same here. I always use sort by expiration.

I just wish the folders alerted you when a show within them was about to expire. It's going to be annoying to pop them open to check, though less annoying than wading through 265 shows...

Cool.

If your machine is on the list for it and the software is not on the hard drive it will download the software over the phone.

Well, I must say, you have earned my respect. I would have expected more venom from most people, not taking the high road like you did.

By gones....

Back to 6.2.... Got mine, and it is sorta anti-climactic. Though I am looking forward to "tweaking" things to uncover hidden features.

Thanks

I ditto your sentiments on 6.2. My first impression makes me think I wish it still had sort by expiration. I guess I can always start at the bottom of the NPL instead of the top. I am very impressed by the guide speed. I haven't tested a Season Pass modification or addition, so I can't comment on that yet, but I expect similar speed increases.

Now I am eager to find out how soon 6.x will come to the even more pathetically slow HR10-250.

Somebody just posted that their HD-Tivo got the upgrade? I just got off the phone with a engineer at DirectTV and was informed that no upgrade was available yet (similer to what aaronwt said above)

Has anybody gotten a upgrade for a HD-Tivo?

6.2 Upgrade

Our Hughes HDR2 (212 hour mod by Weaknees) got the 6.2 upgrade on May 27th. Initially, I missed the sort by expiration date capability. But, after having it for a little while now I have to say that placing the shows in a folder according to wish list entry is much nicer - in my opinion.

Sure, Im sure that sorting by which shows are about to be deleted will be missed in my household from time to time. Especially when we haven't had TiVo time in a couple days and the unit is about to slick some shows we haven't seen. But, since my preferences are set to delete when space is needed - it really doesn't matter all that much. As long as we pick, say, that Star Trek folder which currently has 45 recordings in it, and start thinning it out, all will be well.

Besides, I kinda like having all the BSG, SG-1 etc episodes in their own folder. I also like the fact that it looks like it places logical links to the show in multiple folders if the show matched multiple criteria.

For example, I have a wishlist for both Amanda Tapping and SG-1. Episodes of SG-1 show up in both folders. If I delete one episode, it should delete in both folders. Now - that's nothing fancy - but it'd be a nice touch. Have to see if it works that way or not - still playing

Cool

Now have 6.2 on both machines.
For those who still wonder, they do add service numbers on the weekends.
Forced a call on Saturday at 9:38PM CDT, no dice.
Forced a call at 11:22PM on Sunday, 6.2 loaded on the RCA.
That caught me by surprise !

I only have 2 DirecTiVos, so I'm done...for now!

FYI: The Hughes (HNS) got it 5/19, The RCA got it 5/29.

Forced a call Sunday morning at 8am. No dice. Forced a call at 4pm and got it.

Got mine over the weekend with the normal service call.

The folders are nice, but I'm digging on the increased speed of the guides.

In Chicago, Forced a call in the middle of the day and just got it on Memorial Day!
Finally after 2+ weeks of trying..
I should have waited for it to restart overnight. Took 5 mins for Tivo to restart. Then DirecTV shows a message the service update can take up to an hour . It took 20 minutes. Then I took another 25 resetting my favorite channels.

Turned my primary TiVo on Sunday night and was greeted by a "You now have 6.2" message. Can't believe how much faster the Now Playing and To Do lists are compared to before!

Got my postcard on Friday, forced a call on Saturday, downloaded the update, and was running 6.2 on Sunday. It's a HUGE improvement. My Now Playing List loads in about 1.5 seconds instead of setting the "wait" screen for what seemed like 10 seconds. Nearly all operations are instant, though I haven't tried modifying my Season Passes yet which was the real cruncher.

I still find it annoying that DTV cannot auto-populate the "channels you receive" list. They know what I receive, update it via my daily phone call please. It's annoying to have to parse through that huge list and select what I do/do no get.

I don't understand what the big deal is, I'm not impressed. So I can put my now playing into folders. How about some useful features like caller id. My older RCA Ultimate TV has had so many features, I find it much easier to use.

Wow I need this on my HD Tivo. My parents Tivo got it last night and I played around with it. Even the Directv style guide works fast as lightning!
