Wicked - The Road Tour - Tampa?

Hey, fellow Floridians! Far be it from me to suggest an actual TC Meet in Florida, but I was looking up details on the "Wicked" Road tour and the closest it comes to Jacksonville is Tampa.

And once you start thinking about Tampa, you start thinking, "Gee, who else is close and would like to go?" and the thing snowballs from there.

So, is there any interest in maybe having a TC night at the "Wicked" Performance in Tampa? We'd have to decide SOON, because the darned tickets are going fast.

The possible shows are (all at 8 pm at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center):

Saturday, January 21
Friday, January 27
Friday, February 3
Saturday, February 4

Is anybody interested? Naturally it'd be more fun with friends! (Um, tickets appear to be quite expensive, the cheap seats are $315 and the better tickets are $690, is that normal for this kind of thing? I've never been).

(And if this fails, it'll be in Dallas in October -- there's LOTS more Dallas folk than us Floridians...)

Yikes. At those prices, I'm not likely to go to the show. However, I'm always up for a meet in Tampa. I can't really commit yet, since I'm not sure what my bar plans are. But I'm generally in Tampa over xmas, if anyone's interested then.

But I digress. Someone ping me if this gets serious, and I will get on a plane.

Go directly to Tampa's website - they are MUCH cheaper!

http://www.tbpac.org/

But they don't go on sale to general public until 23 Oct 2005

Wow, you aren't kidding!

That's a lot better! Maybe the other prices are inflated because the ticket aren't on sale yet? I did note they tended to have only a couple at each price, probably season tickets sold at inflated prices?

Heck at $45, that's WAY affordable!

They also have a better range of dates: January 18 - February 5, 2006

The other prices are "ticket brokers" otherwise known as "scalpers."

I'm not sure what Wicked is, but if there's something going on in Tampa, I'll be there! I live 40 minutes away!

I saw Wicked in LA. Those prices are definately scalper prices. I waited until they went on sale, and then checked from one day to the next until I got decent seats. I had to order through ticketmaster, but was able to save my tickets as a pdf and could print them out multiple times (but they can only be used once). So we had extra copies (one for each car) in case someone forgot one.

I really enjoyed the show. I hope you guys do as well. It's got some great music.

There was a special on UHD about the Wicked Road Tour and it reminded me that tickets are on sale NOW for the Tampa engagement.

Wicked is running from Jan 18 - Feb 05, 2006 and the tickets are priced from $56.25 to $87.50.

Looking at the schedule, Saturday, Jan 28 looks real good for me. I have a long weekend, so, really, any day that weekend is good. My nephew wants to come, though, so Saturday and Sunday are better since he's in school most of the other days.

But I'm flexible. Does anybody else actually want to go to this? I'm going regardless, but it'd be more fun with more people.

I have tickets to see it in DC on Jan 7th. I can't wait. I've worn out the pits on my CD by playing it so much.

The Evening shows are at 8, I think, but there's also a 2 PM show on Saturday that works well for having to drive back to Jacksonville...

This far out, I really can't tell you what's good or bad. Pick a day/time and I'll try to work my schedule around it.

Ok, I just ordered tickets for my nephew and I for the 2 PM performance on Saturday, Jan 21. According to the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center website, there are less than 5000 tickets left of their original 60,000.

In spite of that, I got Orchestra seating, row D, seats 1 and 2.

Since I'm taking my nephew, the plan is to drive down, see the show and drive him back to Jax.

Anubis, you are more than welcome if you'd like to come to that show, or, if you (or anybody else!) would prefer a more adult-only crowd, with more leisure time to chat before and/or after, I'm game to go to a separate showing with you guys.

Ereth, I sent you an e-mail about it. For anyone else who was thinking of going, I'm not going to be able to make it, not that I think that will sway anyone's decision.

Have fun.

I am, of course, saddened, distraught, dejected, broken hearted and utterly devastated by this news.

If you find you are able to go, please let us know, we'd love to have you, and anybody else who wants to go! The more, the merrier!

This next semster that starts Jan 2 is going to be nuts for me.

Instead of having a traditional semester with 4-6 classes that last 5 months each, we have 16 classes, each lasting one week (in addition to a semster long writing project).

Thus, at the end of each class, there will be an exam. Every single Monday. Thus, every single weekend for the first 5 months of next year will be spent in the library studying.

What fun.

(Oh, and during this I need to find a job after I graduate too).

Have fun, Ereth. Maybe next year.
