Possible hard drive failing

Although I cannot see any recording or playback problems with my Tivo (120gb cachecard & 256 mb memory) I have noticed that on boot up while the cachecard is caching it shows a message that says possible hard drive failure refer to kernel log.

Is this something to be worried about and is it fixable

...and is there anything in the kernel log?

well it is a 3 year old Maxtor that came out of my other Tivo when I upped that to a 250gb I guess it may be another upgrade coming soon. It is strange that I dont have any recording or playback problems. I may just hang on and hope.

You won't get any errors during playback or recording because the faulty sectors are within the TiVo database

The cachecard tries to read the whole DB into the cachecard RAM at startup and is erroring here because there are two bad sectors.

I would stop using the TiVo now and replace the drive ASAP. This kind of corrruption could easily lead to an irrecoverable situation where you couldn't even make a backup and would have to start again from a clean image. Hanging on and hoping is not an option, IMHO.
