Series 1 user with a question about new stuff

Ok, as I mentioned in the subject, I currently own a series one Tivo.
It's a DSR-6000, and I love it.

I want to get a second Tivo, but not the new R15 dvr. I want to stay
with the Tivo stuff for as long as humanly possible. Is the R10 a Tivo
unit, or is it a DTV-DVR system?

There are only a few R10s at the bestbuys within driving range of my house
and I want to make sure I get the right stuff. I'd order it from DTV if I could
be guaranteed a Tivo unit, but I don't know if that's possible.

Am I safe with an R10 localy, or should I go with DTV. Would I be
better off finding something online?

I've asked on here before, and was told that I can upgrade the r10 for
space. Larger HDs is the only change I'd make to it. I've got 200gigs Tivo now
and that's about the right size for my needs.

thanks for any help and advice.

The R10 is the latest (and last) unit with the TiVo software you know and love. It can easily be upgraded with a 200-300GB drive. Essentially the same method used with your current unit. The R10 will be a bit faster in the interface actions.

The R10 is a DirecTiVo. If you can get one at Best Buy then get one. DirecTV can't promise which unit they will send.

New stuff includes folders/groups. TV Guide logo on some screens. Support for 72.5 satellite.
