Interesting, but I'm still scratching my head as to WHY they had to shake things up so drastically!!

So far, every season has represented a major shakeup, really. Aside from Palmer, Jack, Sherry (and thats a stretch this year) and Kim, nobody has been a MAJOR character in all 3 years. Tony was a bit player Day 1, Nina was relatively minor this season and in Day 2.

But really, the setting was still the same, and there were still a lot of recurring characters that were there at LEAST 2 seasons, and most all three. Now there will be a new setting, and only one recurring character. The show is almost like Joey, or any other spinoff now.

I'm not sure this is a bad thing though. I guess there was only so much you could do with the old group. It'll be interesting to see how they set this all up. Why did Jack leave? What happened to the other characters. And what is that big white bubble that chases him down whenever he tries to escape to CTU? <wink>

I really hope the bring the German group from season 1 (and briefly, season 2) back into the fold. I was never really convinced by season 3's second-half bad guy. Oh, he was bad, alright, but his reason for being that bad were never fully developed. Now Dennis Hopper, that's a bad guy!

Well... it's entirely plausible. When you've given your life to CTU, and all it's done is cost you your wife and your relationship (to some extent) with your daughter, coworkers have gotten killed, it's gotten you addicted to heroin, you've had to do stuff like hack off a coworkers hand to save the city, etc, etc. I know at a certain point you'd say "enough" and get out while you still could.

Additionally, remember that Jack was out of CTU after his wife was killed after season 1, and he was sucked right back in. It's not at all unlikely that after last season, he'd get out again.

New Casting

Here's the new casting:

24 (FOX) - Kim Raver ("Third Watch"), Nestor Serrano ("The Day After Tomorrow"), Shohreh Aghdashloo ("House of Sand and Fog") and Louis Lombardi ("The Sopranos") have all scored roles on the drama's upcoming fourth season. Raver will play Audrey Raines, an aide to the secretary of defense in Washington and a potential new love interest for Kiefer Sutherland's character while Serrano is set as a Middle Eastern businessman with Aghdashloo as his wife. Lombardi will then play a new member of CTU.
