reboot loop: tmk assertion failure.... line 31

So my trusty old series1 hdr112 has gotten ill. It is stuck in a reboot loop with the following log messages from the kernal log:

Aug 17 01:58:01 (none) kernel: Tmk Assertion Failure:
Aug 17 01:58:01 (none) kernel: Audit, line 31 ()
Aug 17 01:58:01 (none) kernel: Tmk Fatal Error: Thread Scheduler <142> died due to signal -2

and these messages from tverr:

Aug 17 01:31:16 (none) Scheduler[142]: Tmk Fatal Error: Thread died due to signal -2
Aug 17 01:31:16 (none) Scheduler[142]: Invoking rule 834: rebooting system
Aug 17 01:34:29 (none) TmkAssertionFailure[142]: (Audit, line 31 ())
Aug 17 01:34:29 (none) Scheduler[142]: Tmk Fatal Error: Thread Scheduler <142> died due to signal -2
Aug 17 01:34:29 (none) Scheduler[142]: Tmk Thread Backtrace: 1aa90ac 1aa79c8 1cadf10 1c9ff2c 1c9fe00 1ca3724 1ca296c 1ca520c 18d1ec8 18d079c 1c0d91c 1c0d54c 1c0d050 1bfefbc 1bf5180 1c045c8 1c954d8 1c94f80 1bf3b0c 1cd4f44 1b91824 1b91794 1bbac78 1bbc074 1bbc12c 1bbae20 1b91670 1b91520 1b90b88 1b907cc 1b8fa18 1b8f0c0 1b8e4d4 1b8e43c 1ce601c 1800134
Aug 17 01:34:29 (none) Scheduler[142]: Tmk Fatal Error: Thread died due to signal -2
Aug 17 01:34:29 (none) Scheduler[142]: Invoking rule 834: rebooting system

I've removed tivoweb, and tried it with and without my cachecard.

Anyone have any ideas how to proceed?

sounds very similar to a problem I have over the weekend. What load do you have and if it is the newest did you try to load any other hacks. The way I got it to work is I brought back an old version of the tivoapp, renamed my sys.author and it cleared up.

I'll compare the tivoapp to my other hdr112's. I already renamed my rc.sys.author to have tivoweb not be loaded. Did you have the same error? Now that I think of it, I think it crashed the first time at about the same time it was getting service data off DSC. Hmmmm.

I had the same error. I compared the size and it was the same but I brought back an old tivoapp anyways and it seemed to work. However I think that it may have been tivoweb but I am not sure because I took it out of loading and changed the tivoapp file at the same time.

The problem was not with the tivoapp program in my case. I took my backup disk and the unit worked fine, so I figured it wasn't the power supply or other hardware problem. I didn't see any problems with the software modules either.

I was able to get the unit working again by deleting the program and guide data. It then started working properly again, once I had it dial in to get the guide data back. It must have had some problem in the guide data. Re-running a guided setup didn't fix it but deleting the guide data did.
