Battlestar Galactica 8/5/05 (S02E04) "Resistance" Spoilers

Wow, awesome episode. This is why I watch this show!

There was so much in this episode that was cool:

The Caprica resistance is a professional pyramid team! That's kind of cheesy, but kind of cool at the same time. Another tie to the OS, and Starbuck's got a new boyfriend.

Ellen Tigh is a manipulatin’ b***h! Cylon or not she is evil!

Anbody else notice the historical scene re-enactments like The Boston Massacare in space and Boomer in Lee Harvey Oswald’s perp walk?

And who was lieutenant Hottie that left with Lee and the president? I don’t recall seeing her before. edit: actually she just helped them leave, still didn't catch her name though.

Get down Billy, way to take a stand and not join “the Revolution”. I am with him on this I think; I think the president is getting a little flaky...

Probably most important : Woo-Hoo He's Awake! Now things can get moving again.

But to me, by far the coolest thing was the Baltar interrogation of Boomer! Go Gaius; that was bad-ass!! 8! there are 8?! Do you really think there are 8 or is that just the first number that came to mind? When Gaius stopped his countdown 8 was the next number so maybe she was just saying that to say something – guess they can’t ask her again.

And how did Tigh know that Baltars test gave Boomer a pass (supposedly)?...

Absolutely brilliant episode...there's no need for spoiler tags when talking about things in this episode, by the way!

I, too, thought of the Oswald assassination...I'm glad someone else noticed as well...since that confirms that this is what they were going for...

why did Baltar care how many cylons are on the ship

Best. TV. Writing. Ever..

I too wondered if there would be a "Jack Ruby moment" when Boomer was being led away.

I think the "8" number was just made up in desperation.

And when is Ellen being sent out the airlock? That'd be more useful than doing it to any Cylon.

According to an interview in Tv Guide, EJO said there are 8 other Cylon models on Galactica.

Thanks for the confirmation Anubys; I wasn't sure of the etiquette and I figured it was best to error on the side of caution after my last foul

I'm beginning to wonder if Ellen and Six aren't the same model of Cylon, just in different bodies.

no problem! there's a sticky called posting guidelines that lets you know the rules...but basically, if the thread has the date and the title, any discussion about what happened during the episode (or a previous one) is fair game...

I really like the doctor character...Poor Cally's obsession with the Chief is a little sad...

I noticed the perp walk, but hadn't caught the Boston Massacre reference. Had to look it up to see what you were talking about. Nice catch.

Not sure if Boomer answered accurately, but if she did -- it was 8 in the fleet, not 8 on Galactica, right?

I thought about Kent State actually...

"Four dead in O-HI-O..."

Same # as killed on BSG.

12 versions of the hardware, just 5 or 6 versions of software perhaps?

Presumably Boomer was in with the group of people who've been tested already and Tigh probably just assumed that Baltar would have reported a positive...

Just finished watching again with the podcast – sounds like we’re both right about the “massacre”

Now that I've listened, I probably wouldn’t have said this:
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)

Sounds like that’s just a line for this show and he’ll come back like nothing happened at some point…

Right. "Fleet" is what Baltar asked her.

Yeah, you know I wondered how much of her motive was hatred for the Cylon and how much was jealousy of Sharon. Probably a swirl of both.

Or she could be one herself and programmed to destroy any other models that fall into human hands.

Makes me wonder why they didn't try studying the other Cylons that they've captured--the dude they sent out the airlock for example.

Ooh! Good one.

They need to get some test going soon - everybody's a suspect. I was even a little suspicious that Chief didn't get tested, Tigh's alcoholic rant at the beginning actually had me wondering...

Did you guys miss last season?

They had this whole arc going where Boomer seemed to be having self doubts like she didn't want to believe that she might be a Cylon. So she specifically went to Baltar and asked to be tested. The test was positive (they showed a close-up of the machine showing the result) but Baltar lied and said she wasn't a Cylon.

If there are 12 models of cylon, then there cannot be 8 in the fleet. We know 5 of the twelve (6, Boomer, Toasters, Leoban, and the Ragnar cylon guy), so unless there are cylon models in the fleet that we, as viewers, allready know to be cylons, there cannot be 8 more in the fleet.

I guess it's possible, since 6 isn't a known model, ASAIK, but is it likely?

I don't think Toaster is one of the models--I think it's 12 humanoid models.

And the eight Spylons in the fleet could be all the same model, for all we know.

By the way, I hope all those people complaining about nothing happening this season now accept that these folks know what they're doing--I'd say more has happened in the first four episodes of this season than all of the first.

Poos Adama--he finally gets back on his feet at the exact moment when the situation has gone beyond the point of no repair.

I thought of that as well. I saw the Jack Ruby moment coming as well, but it was amazing anyway.

Yes, 12 humanoid models. We've met 4, there are still 8 out there. We just didn't know for sure that all 8 were among the fleet.

I loved the pyramid throwback to TOS... very cool. All in all, another great episode and once again I can't wait until next week!

We still don't--she said there were eight Spylons in the fleet, not eight models of Spylons.

true... it would make more sense if they were all different so as not to attract undue attention, but we've already seen duplicates within the fleet. I would think that any identical twins in the fleet would be shaking in their boots..

The Oswald’s perp walk reference was obvious, good catch on the Boston Massacre.

There is an old adage: "Behind every great man is a good woman."

In my life, in real life, I've often observed that also: "Behind every man not realizing anywhere near his full potential is a manipulative bey-atch!" The dynamic between Col. and Mrs. Tigh is believable and powerful. I find my self really feeling for the poor guy!

Ha! And I hadn't listened to it yet.

They did refer to it as the Kent State episode.

True, but with 47,000+ people spread across how many dozen ships, I think it would be pretty easy to stay anonymous--at least until one of their vat-mates was outed!

when they were fighting and then started kissing and going at it, I nearly had a heart attack...that woman is too real to be a cylon...
