The TC Mystery Novel - 1

Ok....to get some fun going in this "Fun House"....let's write a Mystery Novel. Feel free to add as much as you want in each post....Each post has to continue the story from the previous post. Lets see how far we can take an entire mystery novel and what twists and turns we can put into this. Com'on, there have got to be a bunch of junior Mystery Writers out there! The start is the toughest since I have no idea what direction it will take, but here it goes...

CHAPTER 1

The alarm clock rang with it's piercing beep waking Ted out of a deep, alcohol induced sleep. He looked around, confused, trying to remember the events of the previous night. He remembered his date with Amber and their dinner at BookBinder's restaurant but couldn't remember much else. He couldn't even remember getting into bed.

He staggered into the bathroom, brushed his teeth and took a hard look in the mirror. The pale face, dark circles and bloodshot eyes he saw didn't seem like his own. He was looking at a stranger. He was a good looking man, and even did a small bit of modeling while going to school. He majored in Law with aspirations of having his own law firm, but ended up as a detective in the Philadelphia Police Department. He worked is way to Lieutenant and was content with the rank. He had his seniority but wasn't the top dog, just where he wanted to be. His tenacity at the job, his way with people and his intelligence had earned him dozens of awards, and accomodations which he had proudly hanging on his office wall.

As he looked away from that stranger's reflection still trying to recall the previous night's events, the phone rang. He walked back in the bedroom.

"Hello?"

The distictive voice of one of the rookie patrolman echoed in his ear, "Ted, this is Patrolman Jones."

Ted answered, "Hey, Chris, what's up?"

"Well, we have a homicide."

Ted Grumbled, "You know that I am off duty today, right?"

The voice on the other end got quiet for a couple of seconds, then said "Yes, I know, but it's Amber."

Dah, Dah, Daaahhhh

The End???? The End???? That's not very fair! That totally eliminates my creative next part of the story, which wasn't much but at least it didn't end the story so fast. After the last line, "The voice on the other end got quiet for a couple of seconds, then said "Yes, I know, but it's Amber," I was going to add:

"I don't care. Call me when it turns greenish-gray."

Well, I guess that's a wrap....

If someone wants to actually continue this, please do.
