DC/VA King's Dominion CoasterMeet - Sun 10/30 - Pictures

TiVo man rode some coasters
(Actually TiVo man rode more coasters than I did)

It wouldn't be Kings Dominion without the (sub-scale) replica of the Eiffel Tower.

Ride photo of TiVo man, Martin, and I heading towards the tunnel on Anaconda.

Martin and I meet up with the rest of the group.

And now that the kids are on the ride, we meet the rest of the rest of the group.

Ken and son head head out of the platform on Scooby-Doo.

Martin and TiVo man about to try out Scooby-Doo.

Much later we decide to call it a day.

Out of 12 roller coasters:

I rode Hypersonic XLC, Ricochet, Anaconda (twice), Avalanche (twice), Shockwave, Grizzly, Rebel Yell

TiVo man rode Hurler, Anaconda (twice), Flight of Fear, Avalanche (twice), Shockwave, Scooby Doo, Grizzly, Taxi Jam, Rebel Yell

The last time on Anaconda was pretty cool because it was after dark and, as we were crossing the mid ride level emergency exit platform facing the Volcano coaster, they lit off the volcano blast.

Thanks to Jonathan for hanging out with me all day long: he's a trooper! I rode all 12, and with the great weather it was a perfect day. Some were better than I expected (Avalanche, Anaconda, Volcano, Grizzly) and some were worse (Hypersonic XLC, Flight of Fear), but I love going on coasters that are "new" to me.

On the littlest kiddie coaster, Taxi Jam, they have a webcam installed in the dashboard of each car, and it runs during the entire ride. I held up the TiVo guy and had a great time mugging with him for the camera, and was prepared to pay whatever exhorbitant cost they were asking. But only season pass holders could get a copy of it. Shucks!

It was nice to see familiar faces and meet the new ones, especially the young'uns. And of course Fofer had to show up from across the planet and steal my out-of-towner thunder. Maybe next time we'll get him on something a little more modern and grown-up than Rebel Yell.

I am more upset about missing a chance to see Fofer and the Dings* than I am about missing the coasters. Oh well, glad everyone had fun!

Awesome ... wish I could have gone and met some of you folks again, and a massive coaster enthusiast for the first time!

Thanks for the pix, J!

Awesome pictures, Johnathan. Thanks.

We didn't even bring our camera.

It was great to meet Johnathan and to see Martin again. I hope we didn't cramp your style too much by hanging in the kiddie area most of the time. I can tell you our little guy loved it, though.

Nah, I had to ride those anyway. It was nice to be able to split up to eat/ride and still have connectivity through the cell phones. Glad the little ones had fun: amusement parks fortunately still keep an area that's all about them, even with all of the big kids' rides being added.

Even I got to ride 2 coasters! OK - so they were both n kiddie land but that's the way I like it. It was good seeing you all. We had fun and the kiddo was beat after the long day at the park. I only wish we could have stayed for scarryaoke.

Great seeing everyone! It was a blast.

I didn't ride any coasters, but I had fun hanging out in the kiddie area.

I was this close to going on Sunday, but decided after failing to convince my brother to go that doing some work around the house would be good too. Looks like it would have been fun to go. Sigh.
