Rbautch/Gunny: Are these two files different?

When I download the tools cd from Gunny's Zipper page, looking at the tweak.sh file, the date is Oct 28, 2005. If I go to Rbautch's enhancement script thread and download the zip at the end and open it up, the tweak.sh file is dated Nov 20, 2005. I used the file from Gunny's page, could this be a reason my usb200M isn't working? Was just curious before I started trying to get this newer file transferred over to my tivo. THanks guys.

Sorry, didn't mean to hurt anyones feelings. Thanks to the both of you for all your work.
Gunny, without spoon feeding me, can you point me to a thread that describes how to ftp a file to my tivo, using the serial cable? I'm trying to avoid taking my drive back out of my tivo. Or, is it even possible to transfer to the tivo with out having an ip address assigned to it?

Thanks again

Kevin

It can be done - it's not really all that difficult, just slow.
First, you'll need a serial cable if you don't already have one. You can make one yourself or buy one cheap from 9th Tee (a forum sponsor). Plug the cable in to a serial port on your computer and into the Tivo.

Using a windows box, you'll want a program called Tera Term Pro as your terminal client. You can download a free evaluation version. You'll need to select the right COM port for your serial connection, and you'll also probably have to fiddle with the connection speed - it's correct when it doesn't spit garbage onto the screen.

Make sure you make the TiVo's filesystem writable before you transfer over the files. Then use Z-modem to do the file transfer.

Make sure you use regular ZModem, not the one with crash recovery.

Also, when setting up the serial port connection, flow control needs to be set to None.
