There is the list that Solid Signal has and one the Kheldar has which one is right, not sure, wish D* would have some sort of press release.

On another note I did call and after a while, they did say Boise locals were available, I'd need another dish, and one of my boxes, a 420RE wouldn't work. I didn't try for an install date as I'll probably go DIY

Is there a link to the DirecTV web page that lists the compatible receivers?
I couldn't find it, if it exists.

All this time to wait for the Boise locals, and then UPN (ch 9) is not even one of them (according to DTV's website). Oh well, guess I will not "move" back to Boise, I will stay in SLC for now!!

Does anybody know what the term "(Clear)" behind the Evansville, IN means? I'm glad to see I'm on somebody's calendar. I just hope it's accurate.

It's my understanding that ANY receiver with the APG will work. That includes standalone STBs and ALL DirecTiVos.

Of course UPS tried to deliver mine today during the 30 minutes I wasn't home! I'm anxious to see what size this Multi-switch actually is. I have to mount it outside and I'm going to put it in a weatherproof box. Not sure what size to buy until I see it.

did you order overnight? I did 2 day

Not like its a big deal since we won't have locals for a few more weeks. I was just hoping to have something to play with this weekend.

I'm doing the same thing. My guess it is will be about 8.5" x 4.5". I bought a 12x12 housing to be sure.

Crash and Burn....

So, I figured I'd see how lucky I was, and gave D* a call to see if I could schedule an install of the second dish and required multiswitch for my locals (Syracuse, NY DMA, scheduled for the 19th according to the current "official" list). My tactic was to just call up and order it as if it had always been available. Lucky for me, the rep I got seemed to know all about the 72.5 locals deal.....unlucky for me, despite his knowing about it, his computer refused to allow him to schedule the install. He went to talk to someone, and when he came back, he said he was told that "The upgrade offer is not available in your area yet". D'oh! I am teetering on the verge of getting the dish and multiswitch and doing it myself, but the cost vs having D* do it for free is what's holding me back....heck, the multiswitch is $100 all by itself.

Still wish that D* would give some official word on their website or on the phone that the date of the 19th is actually true....seen no evidence so far, even the rep didn't confirm (but did not deny) the date.

Anyone else in here from Syracuse waiting as impatiently as I am to dump Time Warner?

Close to Syracuse

I'm in the Syracuse market and planned to call today to arrange for an installation date. I still may give them a call to see what they say.

The dates and receiver list here: http://www.dbsforums.com/vbulletin/...=&postid=320161 seem to be the most accurate I've found. I also called, and while the first line guy didn't even know about the new locals, I was able to get transferred to D's "Special Projects" group, and that person knew all about the rollout. I was specifically interested in the 10/26 Iowa date, and that was confirmed by the D rep. I also asked about compatible receivers, since I have a Series 1 SAT-T60. I was able to confirm that the SAT-T60 is not on the compatible receivers list (which is consistent with the info on dbsforums and not consistent with solidsignal). Replacement DirecTivo units are switched for the Hughes or RCA DVRs in the list, depending on what the local installer has available, I was also told. And I wasn't able to set up a pre-order install either. I was even sent to the install department, which also knew all about the new locals, and the rep tried, but said it just wasn't an option in the computer system yet.

My market is scheduled for tomorrow. I just tried DTV and they said their computers can't yet add my install but they said Customer Installation Support might be able to, depending if their systems "have been updated." The rep in customer installation support was clueless about the need for a second dish to the point where she said DTV simply doesn't install 2 dishes for any household. I tried to explain and ask to be escalated at which point I was accidentally (or not) disconnected.

I received mine today...You were pretty close on dimensions. It's about 8" x 5". Now if the weather holds I might be able to get some rewiring done for the second dish.

Looks like Oct 12 locals have actually launched.

For Johnstown-Altoona:
PBS WPSX 3 0
NBC WJAC 6 0
FOX WWCP 8 0
CBS WTAJ 10 0
ABC WATM 23 0
IND WKBS 47 0

I'm calling in now!

Update: I'm scheduled for Sat 1PM install. Funny though, their system said one of my DVRs (see below) are not compatiable and will bring out another. She couldn't tell me which one. The are both newer models so I don't know why the system said that. Tip: call Customer Install Support directly to order: 888-355-7530.

Congrats!! Champaign/Decatur/Springfield IL also launched this morning. I ordered online, but have yet to see it come on either receiver yet. I wonder how long it takes once you order to get them.

Stan, I just ordered online as well (Champaign / Decatur / Springfield). You won't be able to receive them until you get the 2nd dish installed. As part of the online ordering process, you should have had the option to schedule an installation appointment for the 2nd dish. Were you prompted for this? If not, you should call DirecTV to get things straightened out.

Locals for Champaign-Springfield-Decatur

I just ordered my locals from D* and installation is scheduled for this Friday. I, too, was told that my dvr was not compatible. The csr told me that her computer system was saying it wasn't compatible, but that she was pretty sure it was since it was on the list of approved models (Phillips DSR704). Weird.

Oh well, can't wait!

Locals for Champaign, IL

I live in Champaign, IL and I just called DirecTV. Locals are available in my area and I am scheduled to have another dish installed tomorrow morning. Yep, tomorrow morning!

The home installation number is 888-355-7530 if you don't want to wade through a bunch of menus.

I have a Philips DSR704 and it is on the list of acceptable receivers but when the rep placed the order, it said my receiver wasn't eligible. The rep said this was a software glitch that has been happening all morning and that she will send out another receiver even though I don't need it.

I ordered my locals for Champaign-Sprinfield-Decatur online today and it didn't give me the option to schedule installation. I had to call to set it up.

The info for these locals on the DTV website only say an an advanced receiver is needed and nothing about the 2nd dish. I think this may be why the install option is not coming up when you order online.

I am scheduled for this Thursday afternoon and they will be replacing 2 of my standard receivers.

Looks like DTV has updated their website:

Customers in the following areas can receive local channels from DIRECTV. A second dish is required. But don't worry, when you order we'll take care of the details for you.

• Champaign-Springfield-Decatur, IL
• Johnstown-Altoona, PA
• Toledo, OH
• Tri-Cities, TN (Johnson-City-Bristol-Kingsport)
• Wausau-Rhinelander, WI

http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/Local...sAction.do#soon

Boise strangley is still listed as "Coming in 2004."

Interesting... I don't think it mentioned the 2nd dish / installation until I answered the question about viewing the test channel. When I said no, it informed me that I needed the 2nd dish and asked me to select an installation date.
