Hello all

I am so new to DVR I don't even have one yet. I called D* on 11/4 because my ad said it expired on 11/5. The guy came out today with a R10 which was DOA. I realized that I wanted an RF remote extender and my surfing around landed me on this site. Upon reading the link on the R10 (thank you so much Earl) I discovered a reference to the R15. Well one thing has led to another and now I've called D* and cancelled my R10 because of you guys (and Robert who pointed out the extension of the offer)

So I'm wondering if any of you know how much the R15 is going to cost. When I called D* they gave me the deer in the headlight answer.

And we have to have 2 windows open. One for page 1, the other for the last page.

Something to look into, I know we're not in the review request thread, but what the heck.

How does it handle items like The Daily Show etc that have multiple airings on the same day of the same episode with lousy guide data.

Im sold.... That just beats my HDVR2. This is one of the best things to come out of a DirecTV DVR. The DTiVo needed this, but they never implemented it.

Probably not, but you'd have to have a solid 1 hour buffered in order for it to ding you 1% gone.

100 hour recording on a 160GB drive, I think the extra 60 (other then the on demand) can be used for the buffer, dontcha think?

Not "going to cost." It COSTS $0. 100-100. You can order one tomorrow, get it Friday.

Earl, you mention that is has two buffers but you're not sure about dual LIVE buffers. What's the difference? Thought all buffers were live?

This is my biggest concern with the R15. I always all night long switch between buffers. For sports, watch two games at once. At night, watch Letterman and Leno at the same time.

Just keep switching between tuners (and rewinding) and never miss a second.

I am going to amend that... It doens't appear to be two LIVE buffers...
As of right now, I can't find a way to toggle between the TWO tuners....
You can toggle between two active recordings though....

And the "fear" that if two things where recording, you would have a blank screen..
Nope... there is a video stream when you go to the TV.

Huh, with a 160 GB drive??? They were going to sell me the R10 80GB for $49 ($149 - $100). Is this offer for existing D* customers? Where did you hear about it? The people I talked to had no information.

I wonder how it handles back to back recordings on both tuners on different channels. Or overlapping recordings on the same channel.

For example, Lost with 2 minutes padding + Invasion.

I'm honestly not being a smartass here, so don't take it that way. It's common knowledge. Everyone online knows it. It's $100. The rebate from DirecTV is $100. There are hundreds of people on this forum who will be getting them tomorrow and the next day who ordered it from Robert at valueelectronics for that price. Yes. I'm sure. Now, if you are an existing customer, and you order FORM DIRECTV, it will be $149. DON'T order it FROM DIRECTV. It will take longer, you will not know what you will get, and it will cost $50 more.

Ricky, I don't take it that way. I'm so happy that I found this forum!

Like I said, I don't even own a DVR yet. I will look into getting it from Robert.

Did I read that it is listed at 100 hours? With a 160 GB drive it should be more than that. I suspect that the "wasted" space is reserved for the My VOD feature. It would be nice if you didn't want to use MyVOD you could recover that extra space for everyday recording. Maybe Earl will come across that in a menu .

This has been discussed quite a bit. I am pretty sure that statement was "officially" made, that they would be segmenting 60 GB for VOD features. What is interesting, though, and Earl, correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that "My VOD" is the name of the "Now Playing List" or the "My Shows" (UTV)? Interesting....

"MyVod" is the name of the Central spot for the DVR features.

Updated: Scheduler, General Usage, and Networking.

Those are questions that DirecTV will have to answer...

So, when two recordings are going on, does not the prev button switch between them? What is the "active" button?

I am going to check the "two recording at once, in about 10 minutes"

The Active button takes you to another menu, where it lists all these interactive features:
Weather
Mix Channels
Best Bets
Horoscope
Lottery
Help

hmmmm... need to check the Help button out.

In the top left, it has DirecTV commercials...
In the middle it has an add for Jeep cheroke... with an INTERACTIVE commercial.... weird.

this Active page reminds me a TON of a hotel summary page.

Slower then I expected though... I just pulled up the Weather page.. and it is taking a few seconds. but now it has the 5 day forcast... not too bad.

To each his own. To me it makes a DVR with one less useless, annoying thing to turn off.
