Thumbs up Seaquest DSV

Starting 12/26 it looks like Scifi is starting a Seaquest marathon in the morning. I liked Seaquest, but it looks like from the descriptions they are not starting a the beginning, but the last season that was not very good. I hope they do go back and get the better first season shows.

Yay. That's a set I need to get. The second season isn't too bad, but it's not as factual as the first season. I'm dreading the third season though...

There was a third season?

Good heavens - I watched every episode of that show. The first season was pretty reasonable, but it went downhill continually.

It got really bad when they ran out of ideas for shows that actually took place in the water, so the SeaQuest was continually docked at port for a land-based story. Most of those took place in the second and third seasons.

I guess third season was when they brought in Michael Ironside to be the new ship's captain - and then the show really stunk.

Kind of a shame, because the basic premise of the show - sort of "Star Trek" underwater - was a good one, and there's plenty of factually-based ideas for stories they could have done.

Yes, there was a third season.

It was SeaQuest DSV season 1, which was factual, SeaQuest DSV season 2, which was more sci-fi like (and the introduction of Dagwood), and SeaQuest 2092, which is Season 3, sans Bridger et. al. (more or less the downfall). SeaQuest DSV -> SeaQuest 2092, something "important" happened (but since this isn't a spoilers group, I won't reveal it. The usual sources can, though.

I do hope I can find the DVD set... any news on when season 2 and season 3 sets might come out?

Actually, I looked at what was on Sci-Fi. They're starting with the first season. I believe they show the last episode the next day during that marathon that continues the next day.

This was the original first season - and depending on when you started watching seaQuest, it's either a good one or a bad one. (season 1 is more factual than season 2, which was more sci-fi.) The transition between season 1 and season 2 lost a lot of fans, but gained a few as well. The transition between season 2 and "season 3" (seaQuest 2092) was much more difficult.

Just found this in my To Do list. I guess having a Seaquest Wishlist finally paid off. I really enjoyed the show the first year, in spite of that damn talking dolphin and the Wesley Crusher clone. I think I stopped watching midway through the second season and only caught a couple of episodes from the third.

Wait, there were more characters than Darwin and Wes?

Well, I know I'm getting the DVD set. I love seaQuest DSV. At least the first two seasons. Don't think I've seen the (crappier) third season.

And for the second season, Dagwood!

I'm good with Dagwood. And I can even deal with Darwin and the Wesley-clone.

My big beef with the second season was that the writers ran out of ideas for stories set in the water. So every episode they docked the SeaQuest at port so they could have a story set on land.

I mean, what's the point of a show featuring a super-submarine if it doesn't go under water?
