Saving A Link to A Search

Used to be that after you performed a search you could save the url of the search results page and use it to perform the same search later. That doesn't work anymore. It appears that the url you save will work for some period of time (a day maybe?) and then it quits working.

I noticed that the url now has a "searchid=xxxxx" parameter on the end of it. After a link I saved the day before didn't work, I typed in my search anew and ran it and the searchid was not the same as the one from the previous day.

Does anybody know a way to save a search now?

The search is cached for some time period but then removed to clean up space. This was true for the other software as well so I am not sure how you were actually saving a search.

Thanks for the info David. I'm sure you're right about that. As a matter of fact, I checked the old searches that I had saved and none of them were keyword searches, they were member name searches. The links looked like this:
Code:
http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/search.php?s=&action=finduser&userid=xxxxx
and the &userid=xxxxx has a five digit number in it.

So I tried to save a member name search just now and under the new version it saves just like the keyword search with the searchid=. That's too bad. Of course there are other ways to quickly do a member search, but it was cool to be able to have a quick link to search for all posts by a certain member.

you can still bookmark a member search. dont search on posts by userid by bookmarking the search RESULT. bookmark the all posts search link from their profile (or the pull down menu in their post)

for example your search is
http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-v...er&userid=15687
your userid number isn't going to change.

It does suck that all the old bookmarks I made for people broke due to changes in the search from version 2. But once I recreated them, they all work fine.

Hey thanks, boywaja. I'll give that a try.
