Free 140hr Tivo

I got excited until I read the 2nd paragraph...

How 'bout a free* 140-hour TiVo® box?
It's an exclusive and unprecedented offer ONLY for qualifying TiVo Rewards™ members like you, who've made successful referrals to the amazing TiVo® service. Think of it as a surprise reward (valued at $249.99!) -- and you spend NO TiVo Points™! It's our way of thanking you for making TiVo Rewards so successful.

Get a FREE 140-hour TiVo® Series2™ box with the purchase of a 12 month TiVo service gift subscription ($155.40)*. Just think of the gifting possibilities: Mother's Day. Father's Day. Graduation presents. Weddings. New parents. And YES, you keep ALL of your TiVo Points.

Just call the TiVo Rewards "140 Ways to Thank You" Hotline now: 1-866-GET-TiVo.
Be sure to have your TiVo Rewards member # and e-mail ready
But hurry, limited numbers of boxes have been set aside for this exclusive offer. Only good through April 30, 2005 while supplies last. Again, please accept our thanks—140 hours worth—for your loyalty and support as an active member of the TiVo Rewards program!

I just got the email too, and I'm tempted...

But this just says to me that the series 3s are on the verge of hitting the market. Either that or standalone HDtivos. Why else would they be trying to dump inventory like this?

Not a bad deal you get a 140 hour box for $155. I might do this and keep the 140 and give my 80 hour and the gift sub to friend.

Wow, I already have a broken Series 2 box thanks to the 7.1 update. How generous of them to want to give me another one!

Man, did I buy by my extra TiVos at the wrong time. I picked up a 40hr ($100 rebate) in January and an 80hr ($100 rebate + 30% off coupon at Best Buy) in February. With the 80hr deal and now the 140hr deal I probably would have gotten more hours for less money. But then I would have had to wait, and less Tivos = bad.

You will need your rewards # and the email to get the deal. It seems to only be for those that have referred someone and gotten reward points for it.

Correct. This offer is only available to members of the TiVo Rewards program who have had at least one activation referral. The sales center will be checking to make sure you are eligible. For those of you who quality, it's quite a deal to get a 140-hour box and a year of TiVo service for $155.40! It's our way of saying thanks to those of you who have referred your friends. BTW, this has nothing to do with the release of any new models or anything like that.

Do we get referral points for this offer if we give it as a gift to a friend? Or since its a deal with the Reward Points people it doesn't count?

And I think it is quite a deal. You can also get a lifetime gift subscription and get the deal.

one question - can you apply the gift subscription to the free 140 hour TiVo ?

Here's my question ... can the "12 month TiVo service gift subscription" be cashed in towards a lifetime subscription?

Just ordered mine! $155.40 no shipping. I have 120 days from today to use the 12 month gift card service. I can upgrade to the lifetime by paying the difference!
Shipping from Tennessee so I should have early next week in OH!
The newer SA series 2 w/ the white front. You can get your referral points too when someone activates this!

I am pleased!

Can I use the 12 months myself? In other words, could I replace my 80-hour box with the 140?

Some answers

Do we get referral points for this offer if we give it as a gift to a friend?

Yes, if you give the new box and the gift sub to a friend, they can list you are the referrer when they activate service and you will get the 5,000 referral points under the TiVo Rewards program. If you activate the box yourself, you will not be eligible for the referral points.

Can you apply the gift subscription to the free 140 hour TiVo ?

Yes -- you can apply the gift-sub that you purchase to any new box. It can not be applied to a box with an existing subscription.

Can the "12 month TiVo service gift subscription" be cashed in towards a lifetime subscription?

Yes -- when activating service, you can apply the 12 month gift-sub towards either 12 months of monthly service or take the cost of it off the $299 product lifetime charge.

Can I use the 12 months myself? In other words, could I replace my 80-hour box with the 140?

Sure! As I indicated above though, you will not be able to get any new TiVo Rewards points since you would not be "referring" anybody else to TiVo. Still a great deal for those looking to upgrade.

Ok, now hold my hand through this one. I have an 80-hour lifetime one. Can I give that one to my brother and it will work fine in his house and just switch it over to him for no charge? Then can I get the 140 hour and pay the 300 bux lifetime for it?

I may not be blonde, but I sure act it.

soon to be a ThreeSoFar TiVoite
now I have the problem of deciding on the 12 months or the lifetime

Guess it comes down to how Multi discount is handled by a gift sub
155/7 = 22 months. so if the 155$ gift sub lasts that long then this is a complete no-brainer for me

You will call into TiVo and cancel the TiVo off your account. If that box has lifetime - it will stay as lifetime on that box. when your brother gives a credit card number to TiVo (for account tracking purposes only - no charge goes on the card just for switching) then the lifetime subscription will just keep going for him

meanwhile you both sit happy - your brother with the start of a whole new way to watch TV adn you with 60 more hours of room

We actually make it a little simpler. Just give the box to your brother and he can call us to have us move the box to an account with his contact info. You can then activate the new box under your account and you are set.
