from directv tech support. as for your quote "the rollout should be random" if that was the case why do they send out a card first? personally i don't see the big deal about 6.2 other then it may be a little faster guide, which should have been fixed from the factory to start with, untill directv can give me my local weather like cable
and dishnetwork and a easier to read menu and guide i will remain unimpressed with directv service, and will leave when my contract is up.

They sent a card out to everybody. What's your point?

You must have one great cable system, if you prefer it, local weather or no, to Directv. And, unless you really want an unreliable DVR, as opposed to a very reliable one, I'm not sure you'll be happy with Dishnetwork.

Have fun.

Thumbs up night and day

wow!!! that's all I can say at this point. I forced a call on my DVR40 last night and got it. I have two 120 gig HDs in there and it is pretty much always full. it had gotten so slooooow lately that I purposely hit the NPL button BEFORE I get my dinner . it took more than 30 seconds sometimes for the list to come up. deleting shows was a real pain. it just took forever. I was hoping 6.2 would speed it up a bit but this blows me away. it seems even faster than when I first got it, with almost empty HDs. and I can't say enough about the folders (it really helps with 53 Letterman shows )! this upgrade exceeded my expectations by far. it feels like I just got a new DirecTivo...

I got a card a few weeks ago. That doesn't mean they're going to enable 6.2 the moment I open my mailbox.

I'm in North Texas and don't have 6.2 yet. The SD TiVo has been in the bedroom since the HD was put into service over a year ago, and we don't use it that often. I didn't even know about 6.2 until I got the mailer last week.

I think my 2nd unit is just toying with me now. for the last few calls after the download it hangs up from the call and then starts preparing the d/l. then it starts loading complete with a %. but instead of going to pending restart it just goes to succeeded. the only other time I've seen my units do this*loading with a %) is when my other unit got 6.2. usually it just says loading and thats it.

My R10 got it very early - maybe around the end of April. I forced a call on my DSR704 late night 5/23 and it was there when I woke up. Nice. Obvious speedups in several areas. I still haven't tried reordering the Season Passes, that used to take a long time.

I got 6.2 last night on one of my DTivo's. The other one doesn't have a phone line for 2 more weeks, so hopefully it's number will come up when I can plug it in. It was a pain having to go and setup the channels again, but once that was done it seems great so far.

...but what about the NFL Sunday Ticket? You can't get that on the Dish network or anywhere else for that matter.

Change my no to a "yes" too.

Forced a call in about 6pm tonight, and finally saw the pending restart message.

Unplugged my HDVR2 to force a restart, and let it receive the new 6.2 upgrade. Only took about 20 minutes time total....

but it got hung up when it tried to restart again, AFTER it received the upgrade.

I have a 160 gig Weaknees add on, so I waited about 5 or 10 minutes, before I decided to unplugged my HDVR2 unit, to force it to do a restart again.

Powered up OK, then displayed the "you have successfully received a new upgrade message".

If you have a Series 2 unit with an add on hard drive, and something like this happens to you....

don't panic, just wait 5 or 10 minutes, and do what I just did. Everything will be fine.

First thing I did was, reset my Favorite Channels received list, because that list gets reset, when you receive the new upgrade.

Next, I went in to check my To Do list, Season Passes, and individual Wish Lists.

Couldn't do that, because the unit had to reacquire new programming information from the satellite. Took about 30 minutes total.

Folders are nice, and overall speed is much improved.

I had to remember how the DirecTV programming grid worked, because it has been so long since I initially tried to use it. (when I first got my DirecTivo) It's still a little bit slow, but it works much better now, than it did before.

To Do list, Season Passes, and individual Wish Lists were all fine, (after receiving new programming information) and switching from one different screen to another, was almost instantaneous. (just like it is on my new R-10)

I have more than 100 shows listed in my Now Playing list, and it's nice now, having all my different series shows, grouped into individual separate folders. (saves me at least 2 or 3 complete screen scrolls down, than it did before)

My almost maxed out HDVR2 unit, has new life again.

Now I'll have to prep another "bigger" replacement hard drive, to replace this one, once older programs start to fall off.

6.2 was definitely worth the wait.

I already voted no but I got it last night. Strange thing happened tho'. After rebooting nothing worked. Not the remote, not the buttons on the front of the machine - nothing. Had to unplug to reboot and then it worked fine.

Ahh, got it on both HDVR2 units, much faster folders, loving the speed boost and glad serial connection worked out nicely.

Now I gotta head off to Officemax for that 200GB drive for $75 after rebate, so in case I decide to modify things a bit. I would sure like USB network to work, and web control, so when I stream video to my Pocket PC phone, I can easily change channels too. HMO would be nifty too.

Hoping someday fairly soon somebody makes a CD that makes this easy for 6.2 DIRECTIVO users like me, just don't have the time to read the zillions of posts on this matter at that other forum...

Neither Hughes HDVR2 units have gotten it, despite successful "Force Daily Calls" I've tried this weekend. I'm using "dial" over the serial cable through internet-attached computer, as I'm another Vonage user whose WRT54GP2 router doesn't like TiVo no matter what I try(although Vonage is working on a firmware beta for TiVo users, I was told Saturday).
