Can't log out

I use the log out links, and the forum acts like it logs me out, but when I go back to the main page, I'm logged in again.

And, Inigo can't get here, even though we're on the same connection. I was trying to log out on my computer, and let him log in, to see if there was a problem with his computer, which is how I encountered the logout problem.

never a problem before. I'm guessing it's part of the DNS issue. Since he can now get there with the ip address, we know it definately isn't that.

Just to confirm Agatha's report:

Using IE 6 on Windows XP with SP2, when I select logout it tells me all cookies have been cleared. Then I have the option to return to the page I was viewing or go to the home page. When I click on 'return to the page' I was viewing I note that I am still logged in. I am pretty sure with this set up I have been able to log out before.

Same results with Firefox, Windows 2000. I also exited the browser and restarted after logging out. I was automatically logged back on.

I believe this is the revenge of the beep.

I can confirm the problem on two machines.

I can also confirm that if you have the problem, and manually delete the tivocommunity cookie, the problem goes away. That is, you can log in (cookie created), and then log out, and the cookie will dissapear properly, leaving you logged out after that.

Too tired to trace the http response to figure out why, maybe tomorrow if I can find a machine still wedged logged in.

It seems to be an issue with the old cookie and the new one made by the new software. Please feel free to remove any cookie that reads www.tivocommunity.com or tivocommunity.com and then login again. (as mentioned above.)

We do allow for a login from the same IP...have to because of proxy servers.

Thanks

Hm. This seemed to work for viewing from IE but I still can't get it to work from Firefox. Is it possible they store their cookies somewhere else?

I do not have the answer for you on that. However, I use FireFox and go into TOOLS, OPTIONS, and then PRIVACY. I then use the COOKIE area and look for the cookes I want to remove and then remove them.
