I rarely see Live TV (because I use the Tivo/Tivo button trick before turning on the TV power) but when I do the TiVo is tuned to a local station that plays infomercials.
I never tune to that station, don't tape anything that is shown on that station, the show being tuned now (ie "Paid Programming") already has three thumbs down, and the channel is marked by me as a channel I don't even receive.
Does this seem a little odd to anyone? Is TiVo and/or DTV getting a kickback to default live tv to infomercials?
I'm generally not paranoid, but I do have a buddy that says "when you don't understand the situation follow the money". Any tinfoil hats out there want to back me up on this?

My suggestions are turned on, but there are no shows in there that were taped off that channel.
>Seems almost as unlikely as the idea that the OP's TiVo is programmed to
Seems like a pretty decent idea to me.
In the absence of any user input, why not tune to a network that would underwrite your service? Shoot, TiVo is so bad at guessing what I'd like that I'd prefer to see TiVo sell Suggestion slots to help prop up the company. Like a Showcase that autorecorded to fill Suggestions space.
